Summer Writing Center Resources

submitted by groeneve@augsburg.edu

This summer, the Writing Lab will undergo some changes, including a name change to the “Writing Center,” a relocation, and the implementation of a pilot program for online instruction that is currently in the developmental stage. While we will unfortunately not be offering in-person consultations, we still want to meet your writing tutoring needs this summer. As we begin to make these changes, we will update our website with additional information and resources. If you have any questions or would like assistance on your writing over the summer, please email our new Writing Center Director Jennifer Forsthoefel (forsthj@augsburg.edu).

International Student Orientation: Looking for Faculty & Staff Hosts August 29th

submitted by bonfigli@augsburg.edu

International Student and Scholar Services is looking for Faculty & Staff who are willing to host new international & exchange students for a meal in their home. Approximately 20-25 new students will be arriving to Minneapolis in at the end of August for Orientation. At the end of their week, we would love to have students have the opportunity to connect more with a faculty or staff member on campus, make connections, and have the chance to be in someone’s home.

Here are the details:
You will meet students at 5:30pm in the Oyate Commons (Christensen Center-Suite 2) on Thursday August 29th. We are asking for you to host 2-4 students and drive them to your home for a meal. We ask that you bring them back by around 8:30 pm or sooner. It helps to be hosting with someone, whether that is your partner, family or you can pair with another faculty or staff on campus.

If you are interested, please email Angela Bonfiglio at bonfigli@augsburg.edu. We are looking for around 10 hosts, but I will have a backup list as sometimes conflicts arise as the summer goes on. Contact ISSS if you have any questions.
