Boyd Koehler, associate professor emeritus and
longtime librarian at Augsburg, has just received
the “Above and Beyond” award by the Minnesota
Library Association.
Koehler, whose career at Augsburg spanned 50 years
(1967-2017), has been recognized “for services that
demonstrate innovation and outstanding dedication
and have statewide impact.”
More specifically, Koehler worked to create
a more diverse library staff as a means of ensuring
a higher comfort level among library users and
reducing research anxiety among students of color,
international students, students with disabilities–and
all students for that matter–during their college journey.
Additionally, he fostered interest in professional
librarianship as a career for many Augsburg students.
