Please join us in Hoversten Chapel at 11:30 for our next Uncovering Vocation chapel. Ellen Weber, Operations Program Associate for the Christensen Center for Vocation, will tell her story. Ellen joined the Christensen Center for Vocation team at the beginning of March 2022 and supports CCV by helping communicate the stories of their work. Additionally, she developed and implemented a new online collaborative learning community project.
Prior to working at Augsburg, she worked in a variety of settings from youth and young adult ministry, CADI waiver case management, speech coaching, working in higher ed, and working as a parent educator. Ellen was a member of the Riverside Innovation Hub’s first congregational partners working with young adults in a South Minneapolis congregation where she traveled with a group to Guatemala. They brought back their learnings that bloomed into a community space with fruit trees, a community garden and honey from the bees on top of the church. She serves on the board of Mental Health Connect, a collaborative that supports congregations with mental health resources, and is a member of the New Brighton Equity Commission.

During the June 9, 2020, town hall for faculty and staff, President Pribbenow announced seven new equity initiatives born out of response to the murder of George Floyd and Augsburg’s renewed commitment to accelerate and expand upon our university’s efforts to promote equity and inclusion during a national moment of racial and social justice reawakening. One of these initiatives was the requirement of Augsburg faculty and staff to complete an annual anti-racism training.

An Enemy of the People examines how a community responds when the local doctor threatens to expose that the town’s water source they rely on for tourism is contaminated. For Native American Heritage Month, American Indian Student Services is sponsoring an Indigenous Book club where we will read Never Whistle at Night. These wholly original and shiver-inducing tales introduce readers to ghosts, curses, hauntings, monstrous creatures, complex family legacies, desperate deeds, and chilling acts of revenge. Introduced and contextualized by bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones, these stories are a celebration of Indigenous peoples’ survival and imagination, and a glorious reveling in all the things an ill-advised whistle might summon.
We will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 12th from 5:30pm-7pm to discuss the book and have dinner. RSVP is limited to 15 people. Students, staff, and faculty are welcome to participate. You will receive the book after you RSVP. Please direct any questions to aiss@augsburg.edu.

Hello everyone!
We at QIPOC are hosting a new event on TODAY from 5:30-7:30 in the Augsburg Room! If you don’t know where that it is, it is in the upper level of Christensen. If you take the stairs, it’ll be to the right and into a hallway with a sign labelled Augsburg Room. This is a discussion about how we may see ourselves and facets of our identities represented in media, what they are, and how important it is.
There will be cupcakes available to those who attend, we’ll have discussion questions ready to get the conversation/discussion started! Talk your heart out about media that you love, media that represents you!
Hope to see you there!
