submitted by dames@augsburg.edu

We’re planning a chapel service at Augsburg to celebrate the Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe on December 8th at 10:40 AM. We need readers, musicians, and people to attend the event. We’ll be serving tamales after the chapel service. Please plan to join us and bring your friends!
We’re especially looking for folks willing to be involved in the service and we thought you might be interested in having a role, or might have some ideas of others in the Augsburg community who might want to take part in this special event.
We need volunteers for these roles:
Readers to read Scripture in Spanish and English
Musicians (guitar, soloists, singers for a choir, etc)
A couple volunteers to read / lead the prayers
Greeters to give out bulletins and roses at the door
People to bring friends to this special event
Please let us know if you’re interested in being involved! Please forward this message to invite your friends. We’ll host one rehearsal when we will assign roles to everyone who wants to help. Questions? Please contact Pastor John at schwehn@augsburg.edu or Sarah Degner Riveros at riveross@augsburg.edu.

Join Us for Trans Day of Remembrance

submitted by crowellt@augsburg.edu

Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is on Monday, November 20. TDOR follows Transgender Awareness Week (Nov. 13-19) and is an annual observance and honoring of the trans community members whose lives we have lost.

This year, LGBTQIA+ Student Services would like to offer you an open invitation to join us for our TDOR services. We will be at Daily Chapel from 10:40 AM – 11:00 AM for a short presentation on the history of TDOR and a brief reflection from the LGBTQIA+ Student Services Program Manager. Later in the day, we will be hosting our annual TDOR Vigil from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM in the Marshall Room.

The campus community is welcome to attend either Daily Chapel, the vigil, or both to share space and honor our trans community members. The presence and support of allies is appreciated in the space but we humbly ask that non-trans/non-queer folks be mindful of which bodies and voices are prioritized in these spaces.

As part of the TDOR vigil, trans students are welcome and encouraged to share their voices by offering words or reflections if they are comfortable and willing. For more information, please reach out to the LGBTQIA+ Student Services Program Manager at crowellt@augsburg.edu if you are interested in participating.

We hope to have you share these spaces with us on Monday, November 20.

It’s the Final Weekend of “The Clockwork Professor” Performances

submitted by stadlerl@augsburg.edu

Augsburg Theater Department presents:
The Clockwork Professor
by Maggie Lee
Directed by Beliza Torres Narváez

Thursday, Nov 9- Saturday, Nov 11 at 7 pm.
Sun Nov 12 at 3 pm.

Tjornhom-Nelson Theater, Foss Center

The show runs for approximately 2 hours with an intermission.

Professor Shae Pemberton is a humble, secretive inventor who leads a quiet life focused on science. However, as her loyal assistant Matilda reminds her, fixing broken toys, clocks, and household gadgets is what she must do to pay the bills. When her friend Lawrence visits her with a business proposal from two shady fellows, buried secrets from her past resurface. As political unrest sweeps over the great city of New Providence, unexpected (and weird!) events start to unravel and threaten to destroy everything Pemberton holds dear, perhaps even the Crown itself! The Clockwork Professor is an action-packed adventure of fantastical science fiction with a steampunk twist.

Content Disclosure: The Clockwork Professor is a comedy intended for young adult and adult audiences. This play includes the use of some strong language and contains suggested nudity. There are also simulated fights, physical restraint, and a bit of romantic display of affection. Ah! And there will be some occasional theatrical smoke, too!
