– Enrolled at least half-time in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
– Within 5 semesters of graduating with a STEM degree as of Fall 2021 (graduating by December ‘23)
– Major GPA of 2.75 or higher (scholars will be expected to raise their GPA to 3.0 during program participation)
– U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
– Demonstrated financial need as determined by financial aid status (Pell or MN State grant eligible or equivalent)

STEM Peer Mentoring is a student-led mentoring program that focuses on providing support to First-years and Sophomores as they navigate their academic and professional careers in STEM.

Mentors in STEM Peer Mentoring can play a pivotal role in establishing the success of beginning STEM students. If you’re a rising Junior or Senior in a STEM major, enjoy being a leader and/or have lots of advice & resources to share — this is for you!! (Transfer students are also welcome!)

The Minnesota Urban Debate League is a program of Augsburg University. We provide academic competitive debate programming to Twin Cities middle and high school students. We have an incredible opportunity ahead of us:

The MN 5th Congressional District Office can advance a limited number of projects for the Community Project Funding appropriations bill. We’ve submitted a proposal for $175,000 to bring even more debate programming to Twin Cities students! This could be a game changer- but we can’t do it alone.

How Can You Help?

TODAY: please contact U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s office via phone and/or email and share why YOU want to support the MNUDL. The messages can be very short, but each message is like your “vote” of support. Phone calls typically count much more (like 5-7x more) so if you have the time to call- that’s even better!

Two steps:
1 ) Make sure you include “MNUDL” and support for funding our “Community Program Funding Proposal” in any message, so they know what you’re supporting.
2 ) State that you are affiliated with Augsburg University and what connection you have to Urban Debate.

Be a Smart Student Using TutorMe

Students – don’t forget about TutorMe! It is available to Augsburg students 24/7 and offers tutoring in over 300 subjects from qualified tutors. Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes. At the top left of your screen there is an orange tab to see the side panel of resources. As you scroll down, you will see the “Augsburg Tools” section and underneath is the link to TutorMe. Student Campus Box Closure/Survey

As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the digital survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.

Two weeks after the spring semester ends (May 16 2021) we will be closing all student campus boxes unless otherwise notified. Before the fall semester starts we will reassign campus boxes to all residential students. Commuter students can then request to have a campus box if they would like one.

If you would like your mail forwarded or would like to keep your mailbox open for the summer, please either fill out this survey ( https://forms.gle/7VW5CUfDmkzoHVTL6 ) or send us an email (mailship@augsburg.edu) with any relevant information. There is also an option to be keep your current campus box number for the next semester if you will be returning in the fall. If you do not fill out the survey, we will close your campus box and return to sender any mail in the box.

We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail and packages. Other packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.), magazines, non-profit mail and standard mail will be returned to sender or recycled. We can also only forward to US addresses. The forwarding period for the Augsburg Mailroom is two months from when the request is submitted (July 16 2021). Afterward any additional mail we receive will be returned to sender.

We request that you contact the people/business sending you mail and update your address with them. Enrolling in online/electronic bills or statements can also be a smart option, it is environmentally friendly, secure and will often save you time (and sometimes money). Asking us to forward your mail does not change your mailing address with the USPS or the University, just the Mailroom.

Join the Celebration for Dianne Detloff’s Retirement

Dianne Detloff’s retirement celebration is on Thursday, May 6th from 2:30 – 3:30 PM.
Come with your memories, stories, appreciation and good wishes for Dianne.

With more than twenty years of dedicated service, Dianne has worked as the Administrative Program Coordinator in the Center for Wellness and Counseling (CWC). She has welcomed thousands of students seeking CWC services. In her position at CWC, she organized a multitude of wellbeing events, such as, the Annual CWC Health Fairs, blood drives with the Memorial Blood Center, and flu shot Clinics with Hennepin Health Care. Dianne provided the leadership for the Augsburg student EPIC program and was a mentor and supervisor for the students. Many students found meeting with the dogs from Paws for learning lowered their stress and would come to CWC or other locations on campus to be with the beloved dogs from Paws for Learning.

Join Model UN in Chicago this Fall

Apply now to take the fall semester Model United Nations course, POL 368. Members of this class will participate in the American Model United Nations from November 20-23, 2021, held in Chicago, IL.

In this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of the United Nations and international diplomacy through the process of preparation for attending the conference in November. Students research a country and set of issues for the committee on which they will serve.

The fall 2021 Augsburg delegation will be representing the countries of Guatemala, Namibia and Sweden. In addition, a focus of the class will also be the study of indigenous peoples and their connection to the United Nations, with emphasis on Canadian First Nations.

The conference provides experiential learning that enables you to develop a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN, and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. This opportunity is a great chance to put your learning into practice!

Priority Application deadline is May 1, 2021 to apply on the Study Abroad/Away site.

Prerequisite: students must complete the POL 160 course before Fall 2021, or have relevant equivalent academic experience.

Minnesota Urban Debate League Hiring for AmeriCorps VISTA Role – Open Soon

The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University, is hiring an AmeriCorps VISTA member to build capacity for its Spanish Debate League and East African Debate programs. The role will begin in August 2021.

Our Community Debate Liaison will carry out these capacity-building activities:

– Serve as a liaison for our community-focused debate programs
– Establish and maintain relationships with Latinx-serving and East African-serving organizations, including with universities and corporate affinity groups
– Build volunteer pipelines for Spanish Debate League and East African Debate Initiative programs
– Conduct community surveys and interviews to be used for program improvement and fundraising
– Write powerful grant writing and fundraising appeals focused specifically on Spanish Debate & East African Debate opportunities
– Parent and family engagement of students within these programs

We are seeking organized individuals with strong communication skills and a passion for youth voice & education. Spanish, Somali, and/or Oromo language fluency a plus. Does this sound like you?

Student Campus Box Closure/Survey

As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the digital survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.

Two weeks after the spring semester ends (May 16 2021) we will be closing all student campus boxes unless otherwise notified. Before the fall semester starts we will reassign campus boxes to all residential students. Commuter students can then request to have a campus box if they would like one.

If you would like your mail forwarded or would like to keep your mailbox open for the summer, please either fill out this survey ( https://forms.gle/7VW5CUfDmkzoHVTL6 ) or send us an email (mailship@augsburg.edu) with any relevant information. There is also an option to be keep your current campus box number for the next semester if you will be returning in the fall. If you do not fill out the survey, we will close your campus box and return to sender any mail in the box.

We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail and packages. Other packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.), magazines, non-profit mail and standard mail will be returned to sender or recycled. We can also only forward to US addresses. The forwarding period for the Augsburg Mailroom is two months from when the request is submitted (July 16 2021). Afterward any additional mail we receive will be returned to sender.

We request that you contact the people/business sending you mail and update your address with them. Enrolling in online/electronic bills or statements can also be a smart option, it is environmentally friendly, secure and will often save you time (and sometimes money). Asking us to forward your mail does not change your mailing address with the USPS or the University, just the Mailroom.

Minnesota Urban Debate League Hiring for AmeriCorps Vista Role – Open Soon.

The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University, is hiring an AmeriCorps VISTA member to build capacity for its Spanish Debate League and East African Debate programs.  The role will begin in August 2021.

Our Community Debate Liaison will carry out these capacity-building activities:

– Serve as a liaison for our community-focused debate programs
– Establish and maintain relationships with Latinx-serving and East African-serving organizations, including with universities and corporate affinity groups
– Build volunteer pipelines for Spanish Debate League and East African Debate Initiative programs
– Conduct community surveys and interviews to be used for program improvement and fundraising
– Write powerful grant writing and fundraising appeals focused specifically on Spanish Debate & East African Debate opportunities
– Parent and family engagement of students within these programs

We are seeking organized individuals with strong communication skills and a passion for youth voice & education. Spanish, Somali, and/or Oromo language fluency a plus. Does this sound like you?

AmeriCorps is a great opportunity for recent grads. You’ll also gain sought-after skills in the nonprofit sector.

Google Maps in Augsburg.edu Returns

You may have recently received an error message when trying to access Google Maps while logged into your Augsburg account. It appears that while it may have been previously available, Augsburg did not have Google Maps turned “On” as a non-core app available for Augsburg.edu accounts. A likely change by Google seems to have corrected what they would see as unintentional access. During our investigation, we have kept the service “Off.”

Now we’ve turned it “On.” This is a good time to remind you that Google Maps does not fall under our Education terms of service so the privacy protections are the same as the commercial Google tools. Our Core Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) fall under an education terms of service that includes FERPA protections. In other words, non-core apps like Google Maps will collect data like the commercial Google products so be aware of that. And we recommend not requiring students to use any non-core apps for coursework since there aren’t FERPA protections.

Study Indigenous Peoples Around the World at Model UN this Fall

Apply now to take the fall semester Model United Nations course, POL 368. Members of this class will participate in the American Model United Nations from November 20-23, 2021, held in Chicago, IL.

In this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of the United Nations and international diplomacy through the process of preparation for attending the conference in November. Students research a country and set of issues for the committee on which they will serve.

The fall 2021 Augsburg delegation will be representing the countries of Guatemala, Namibia and Sweden. In addition, a focus of the class will also be the study of indigenous peoples and their connection to the United Nations, with emphasis on Canadian First Nations.

The conference provides experiential learning that enables you to develop a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN, and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. This opportunity is a great chance to put your learning into practice!

Priority Application deadline is May 1, 2021 to apply on the Study Abroad/Away site.

Prerequisite: students must complete the POL 160 course before Fall 2021, or have relevant equivalent academic experience.

Applications are Now Open for the 2021-22 AugSTEM Scholars Program

The AugSTEM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation, AugSTEM Scholars receive scholarships of up to $10,000 per student per year. Scholars also become a part of the STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for summer research, faculty mentoring, and career development.

Eligibility:
– Enrolled at least half-time in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
– Within 5 semesters of graduating with a STEM degree as of Fall 2021 (graduating by December ‘23)
– Major GPA of 2.75 or higher (scholars will be expected to raise their GPA to 3.0 during program participation)
– U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
– Demonstrated financial need as determined by financial aid status (Pell or MN State grant eligible or equivalent)

Application deadline: Wednesday, May 19 at 11:59pm
Faculty reference deadline: Friday, May 28 (applicants should get permission from one faculty member to serve as their reference and name them in their application)

Students who began their college careers at community colleges are encouraged to apply as well as students who began at Augsburg.

They specialize in recruiting and staffing for a single industry or location. These agencies are able to better understand the qualifications that candidates possess to help match them with an organization/position that’s a good fit for them. For new grads working with a staffing agency is a great way to strengthen your resume. In many cases the only way to get hired by larger employers is when you go through a staffing agency.

The LEAD (Leaders for Equity, Action & Democracy) Fellows Program focuses on student leadership development through off-campus, community-strengthening work in which they are working to address social issues such as education inequity, food insecurity, housing instability, etc. Students attend regular cohort meetings to reflect together on their work, cultivate critical analysis of the issues they’re working to address, and develop leadership skills.

In addition to being an active member of the leadership cohort, students will have access to paid internships both on and off campus in position that focus on social change work.

TRIO McNair Scholars Program – Still Accepting Applications

Augsburg’s TRIO McNair Scholars Program is still accepting applications for Fall 2021 admission. Eligible applicants will be at Junior status by the end of Spring 2022 and available to conduct full-time research Summer 2022. We are particularly looking for students in STEM fields that are interested in pursuing doctoral degrees, but we will consider all majors.

The TRIO McNair Scholars Program works with students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate education and who exhibit strong academic potential. The goal of the program is to prepare Scholars for graduate study through academics, involvement in undergraduate research and other scholarly activities. McNair provides coursework, workshops and advising in preparation for doctoral study. The program also assists with securing admission to and financial assistance for enrollment in graduate programs. Students will acquire the research skills necessary to succeed in graduate school through a paid research internship ($4000+) with an Augsburg faculty member during the Summer of 2022.

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Therefore, to be eligible, students must be first-generation (neither parent graduated from a four-year college) AND low-income AND/OR may be persons from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The Department of Education defines these groups as African-American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, and Hispanic/Latino. Additionally, applicants must be either U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and maintain at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA (3.0+ preferred).

The LEAD (Leaders for Equity, Action & Democracy) Fellows Program focuses on student leadership development through off-campus, community-strengthening work in which they are working to address social issues such as education inequity, food insecurity, housing instability, etc. Students attend regular cohort meetings to reflect together on their work, cultivate critical analysis of the issues they’re working to address, and develop leadership skills.

In addition to being an active member of the leadership cohort, students will have access to paid internships both on and off campus in position that focus on social change work.

Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes. Campus Boxes Closing/Survey

As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the digital survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.

Two weeks after the spring semester ends (May 16 2021) we will be closing all student campus boxes unless otherwise notified. Before the fall semester starts we will reassign campus boxes to all residential students. Commuter students can then request to have a campus box if they would like one.

If you would like your mail forwarded or would like to keep your mailbox open for the summer, please either fill out this survey ( https://forms.gle/7VW5CUfDmkzoHVTL6 ) or send us an email (mailship@augsburg.edu) with any relevant information. There is also an option to be keep your current campus box number for the next semester if you will be returning in the fall. If you do not fill out the survey, we will close your campus box and return to sender any mail in the box.

We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail and packages. Other packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.), magazines, non-profit mail and standard mail will be returned to sender or recycled. We can also only forward to US addresses. The forwarding period for the Augsburg Mailroom is two months from when the request is submitted (July 16 2021). Afterward any additional mail we receive will be returned to sender.

We request that you contact the people/business sending you mail and update your address with them. Enrolling in online/electronic bills or statements can also be a smart option, it is environmentally friendly, secure and will often save you time (and sometimes money). Asking us to forward your mail does not change your mailing address with the USPS or the University, just the Mailroom.

In-Person Commencement Ceremonies

Like the Class of 2020, the Class of 2021 will have a virtual commencement ceremony open to all, scheduled for the evening of May 3, 2021. However, with the increasing pace of vaccinations and the relaxing of public health limitations on events, we are now able to contemplate the best way to celebrate graduations face-to-face as well.

Based on survey results from our graduates, the majority of the Class of 2021 prefers to have an in-person ceremony soon, with limited guests, masking, and mandatory physical distancing. The majority of the Class of 2020 prefers waiting until spring of 2022 in hopes that fewer restrictions will be in place by that time.

For the Class of 2020, we will share more as plans come together and dates are confirmed to ensure you and your guests have time to plan for next year’s celebration.

The Class of 2021 ceremony has been scheduled for June 8, 2021, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Updates will be shared with graduates and added to the Augsburg commencement webpage when details become available.

Applications are Now Open for the 2021-22 AugSTEM Scholars Program

The AugSTEM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation, AugSTEM Scholars receive scholarships of up to $10,000 per student per year. Scholars also become a part of the STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for summer research, faculty mentoring, and career development.

Eligibility:
– Enrolled at least half-time in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
– Within 5 semesters of graduating with a STEM degree as of Fall 2021 (graduating by December ‘23)
– Major GPA of 2.75 or higher (scholars will be expected to raise their GPA to 3.0 during program participation)
– U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
– Demonstrated financial need as determined by financial aid status (Pell or MN State grant eligible or equivalent)

Application deadline: Thursday, May 13 at 11:59pm
Faculty reference deadline: Tuesday, May 25 (applicants should get permission from one faculty member to serve as their reference and name them in their application)

Students who began their college careers at community colleges are encouraged to apply as well as students who began at Augsburg.

Minnesota Technology Foundation Scholarship Application Now Open

The Minnesota Technology Foundation Scholarships are for Minnesota undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. These awards range from $2,500 to $5,000 awards and can include internship opportunities at MnTech member companies.The Minnesota Technology Foundation supports diversity in this application and award process.

Eligibility requirements:
– Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a STEM field or in STEM teaching
– Only students with sophomore through senior academic status in the current school year may apply. Sophomore status may include students who have achieved this status through advanced placement (AP) credit or post-secondary options (PSEO)s
– Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited, Minnesota-based higher education institution.
– Scholarships will be awarded in the fall term of 2021 and presented to recipients at Minnesota Technology Association Tekne Awards in November. Students must be enrolled at time of award.

Join Model UN in Chicago this Fall

Apply now to take the fall semester Model United Nations course, POL 368. Members of this class will participate in the American Model United Nations from November 20-23, 2021, held in Chicago, IL.

In this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of the United Nations and international diplomacy through the process of preparation for attending the conference in November. Students research a country and set of issues for the committee on which they will serve.

The fall 2021 Augsburg delegation will be representing the countries of Guatemala, Namibia and Sweden. In addition, a focus of the class will also be the study of indigenous peoples and their connection to the United Nations, with emphasis on Canadian First Nations.

The conference provides experiential learning that enables you to develop a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN, and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. This opportunity is a great chance to put your learning into practice!

STEM Peer Mentoring is a student-led mentoring program that focuses on providing support to First-years and Sophomores as they navigate their academic and professional careers in STEM.

Mentors in STEM Peer Mentoring can play a pivotal role in establishing the success of beginning STEM students. If you’re a rising Junior or Senior in a STEM major, enjoy being a leader and/or have lots of advice & resources to share — this is for you!! (Transfer students are also welcome!)

Help Others Get Their Vaccine and Get Yours Too

Sign up to be a volunteer at a vaccine event at People’s Center (425 20th Ave S). Volunteers are needed Thursday, April 22 and Thursday, May 20. Shifts are 3.5 hours. Everyone who volunteers can either sign up to receive a vaccine or can give the opportunity to a loved one (Moderna). Hi! My name is Bella and I am a first year student here at Augsburg studying graphic design. I am currently trying to find personal care assistants to help me in my day to day life here on campus. This would include getting me ready for the day, helping me get set up for class and assisting me around campus. I am currently looking for people who would want to work starting May and some hours during this summer! If you are a pre-med or nursing student, this is a great opportunity to get experience with patient care. Plus, you get to be paid to have fun!

Applications are Now Open for the 2021-22 AugSTEM Scholars Program

The AugSTEM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation, AugSTEM Scholars receive scholarships of up to $10,000 per student per year. Scholars also become a part of the STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for summer research, faculty mentoring, and career development.

Eligibility:
– Enrolled at least half-time in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
– Within 5 semesters of graduating with a STEM degree as of Fall 2021 (graduating by December ‘23)
– Major GPA of 2.75 or higher (scholars will be expected to raise their GPA to 3.0 during program participation)
– U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
– Demonstrated financial need as determined by financial aid status (Pell or MN State grant eligible or equivalent)

Application deadline: Thursday, May 13 at 11:59pm
Faculty reference deadline: Tuesday, May 25 (applicants should get permission from one faculty member to serve as their reference and name them in their application)

Students who began their college careers at community colleges are encouraged to apply as well as students who began at Augsburg.

Congratulations to FEA Scholarship Winner Sahra Mohamed

We are pleased to announce that Sahra Mohamed has been selected to receive a Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) Scholarship to study abroad in Jordan! Sahra is a International Relations / Business Administration Major and plans to study Arabic next summer 2022. Sahra is one of 91 winners across the US this award cycle. Are you seeking a full-time entry level job and feeling anxious about the job search? You are not alone, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. The Strommen Career & Internship Center invites you to attend a small virtual Staffing Agency Fair powered by Handshake on Friday, April 30th.

Staffing Agencies participating in our fair specialize in working with students who have been out of college for three years or less. They specialize in recruiting and staffing for a single industry or location. These agencies are able to better understand the qualifications that candidates possess to help match them with an organization/position that’s a good fit for them. For new grads working with a staffing agency is a great way to strengthen your resume. In many cases the only way to get hired by larger employers is when you go through a staffing agency.

This fair is an opportunity for you to learn how staffing agencies can help YOU! There is NO fee paid by the candidate, so what do you have to lose?

Students – don’t forget about TutorMe! It is available to Augsburg students 24/7 and offers tutoring in over 300 subjects from qualified tutors. Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes. At the top left of your screen there is an orange tab to see the side panel of resources. As you scroll down, you will see the “Augsburg Tools” section and underneath is the link to TutorMe. Mural Being Painted in Old Main Tunnels

Keep your eyes peeled for wet paint. A graphic design class, Graphic Systems, is helping transform the tunnels under Old Main into an aesthetic and thought-provoking space. We brought this to the Campus Design Committee of the University Council, and they approved the project because of the moment we’re in where so many students, faculty, and staff miss campus, and the fact this particular class has the opportunity to do something special to welcome folks back, whenever they might return. Please be careful and avoid touching the wet paint as we transform this space into something the whole community can enjoy. Updates about the project will be available in the Facilities blog shared via A-mail usually on Tuesdays.

The LEAD (Leaders for Equity, Action & Democracy) Fellows Program focuses on student leadership development through off-campus, community-strengthening work in which they are working to address social issues such as education inequity, food insecurity, housing instability, etc. Students attend regular cohort meetings to reflect together on their work, cultivate critical analysis of the issues they’re working to address, and develop leadership skills.

In addition to being an active member of the leadership cohort, students will have access to paid internships both on and off campus in position that focus on social change work.

The Echo, Augsburg’s student-run newspaper, is looking for students interested in our position of Opinions Editor.

*Pro tip: you do not need to be an expert in writing or editing to do well as an Echo editor. The Echo provides ample training and a welcoming team of support. If you’re interested, go for it!*

The editor of our “Opinions” section is responsible for curating, editing and writing articles centered on Augsburg student and community opinions and stories. Some examples of Opinions content topics include political comics, critiques of Augsburg administration and leadership, experiences of marginalized identities, political views and more. A bullet-point list of this position’s duties are below.

– Curate, edit and write articles centered on Augsburg student and community opinions.
– When editing, maintain writer’s intended meaning. Strive to collaborate with writers when possible.
– Commit to being open, fair and reasonable about Opinions submitted.
– Plan photos for section in coordination with Photo Editor.
– Be part of a welcoming and supporting team.

This position is paid $60 per newspaper issue (we release 10 issues every semester) and works 6 hours a week.

STEM Peer Mentoring is a student-led mentoring program that focuses on providing support to First-years and Sophomores as they navigate their academic and professional careers in STEM.

Mentors in STEM Peer Mentoring can play a pivotal role in establishing the success of beginning STEM students. If you’re a rising Junior or Senior in a STEM major, enjoy being a leader and/or have lots of advice & resources to share — this is for you!! (Transfer students are also welcome!)

Augsburg’s STEM majors include:

Students are matched according to their major and information they provide on the STEM Peer Mentoring Application (see link below!).

Generally, students are asked to commit about 3-4 hours/month of involvement as they meet one-on-one with their mentee and attend occasional group meetings.
