Personal Care Assistants Needed

submitted by barrienb@augsburg.edu

Hi! My name is Bella and I am a second year student here at Augsburg studying graphic design. I am currently trying to find personal care assistants to help me in my day to day life here on campus. This would include getting me ready for the day, helping me get set up for class and assisting me around campus. I am currently looking for people who would want to work some hours during this summer and the Fall semester! If you are a pre-med or nursing student, this is a great opportunity to get experience with patient care. Plus, you get to be paid to have fun!

I really enjoy getting coffee, watching Netflix, drawing, and painting. I consider all my assistants as my friends and if you work for me, you are guaranteed a good time! If you are interested, please text me at: 612-345-2855 or email me at barrienb@augsburg.edu. Hope you will join!

Sad News About Anne Frame

submitted by bergc2@augsburg.edu

Dear Augsburg Community,

I write to share the sad news that Anne Frame, spouse of Bill Frame, Augsburg’s 9th president (1997-2006), passed away on Tuesday evening.

Anne was a wonderful member of the Augsburg community during Bill’s time as president. She welcomed students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to Augsburg House. Anne engaged with students in many settings, including Augsburg’s Late Night Breakfast, an end-of-the-semester tradition of faculty and staff serving breakfast at night to help students get healthy brain food during finals week. Anne was always up for an opportunity for some fun, even singing a folk song with Bill during an Auggie Variety Show in 2004. Along with her husband and other Minnesota private college presidents, Anne participated in an eight-day trip to China in 2000 hosted by China’s Ministry of Education to help develop a private college/university sector in the People’s Republic of China, increase the number of undergraduate student exchanges between China and the U.S., and expand understanding in the U.S. of Chinese culture, education, and economics.

Anne was also part of the Augsburg Associates, a group of volunteers best-known for organizing Velkommen Jul and the Trash and Treasure Sales, both events which raised money to fund scholarships for Augsburg students. Along with these fundraising events, Anne and Bill Frame are part of Augsburg’s Sven Oftedal Society, a group of donors who have arranged a deferred gift to the university to provide student scholarships.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing, Minnesota. Anne’s obituary and further service details will be posted on the Mahn Funeral Home website, link provided below.

Please join me in holding Bill Frame and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Sincerely,
Paul Pribbenow, President
Augsburg University

Sad News from Namibia

submitted by mulvihil@augsburg.edu

I write with the sad news that Sakeus “Ndangi” Mbango, the husband of CGEE’s Southern Africa Site Director, Albertina (Tina) Shifotoka, passed away on Saturday from complications related to COVID-19. He had been in the hospital and appeared to be improving, but his condition took a sharp turn at the end of the week.

Ndangi worked for the Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, where he rose to the rank of Control Officer for the Directorate of Refugee Administration. But more than anything else, he was a caring husband and father. He leaves behind Tina and their two children, Lusia and Soini, ages 8 and 13.

Tina is surrounded by family this week, and the love of her many Augsburg friends goes out to her.
