Augsburg University offers a five-week GRE prep course each summer for Augsburg students and alumni at a cost well below those found at private test centers. This course is taught by experienced GRE test-prep educators. Throughout the course students will have a chance to take a full-length practice test, complete practice problems for each area of the test, and receive in-depth feedback and instruction. The registration fee also includes a six-month subscription to the online GRE study tool, Magoosh.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s course will be offered via Zoom.

May 13th – June 15th Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 – 8:00pm (Excluding Memorial Day)

The Online Learning Consortium constantly strives to create new points of engagement amongst educators across the field of online, digital and blended learning.

Over the course of two weeks (April 21 – May 1), the OLC will be holding a series of open salons (a casual and inclusive space with discussions organized and facilitated by a salon leader) that will offer educators of all levels the opportunity to listen to emerging ideas and effective practices from their peers. These casual discussions will be designed to specifically encourage reflection, co-creation, and synthesis, with connections to future OLC events for further collaboration.

There is no charge to participate live.

Learn about historical and present-day challenges in creating national identity and inclusive democracy. The program starts in South Africa and continues to Namibia. Classes in history, political science, religion, and wellness–or even choose an internship as part of your semester. All courses are taught in English. For fall 2020 and Spring 2021: CGEE is providing **FREE AIRFARE** for Auggies.

+++ COMMUNICATION & MEDIA STUDIES: MIGRATION & SOCIAL CHANGE IN MEXICO +++
Develop yourself as a socially conscious media professional equipped for the challenges of modern-day media! Engage with experienced professionals on responsible journalism on critical issues such as (im)migration and the environment. Listen to the stories from those traditionally marginalized by society. No Spanish language proficiency required.

+++ LIBERAL ARTS, LANGUAGE, AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN MEXICO +++
This program immerses you in Mexican culture, includes multiple excursions, and fosters friendships with Mexican students. With many elective course options, you can complete your language requirements, liberal arts requirements, and Augsburg Experience. No Spanish language proficiency required.

In the event that we must cancel fall programs, the decision will be made no later than July 15, 2020, and students will be offered spots on spring 2021 programs.

Learn about historical and present-day challenges in creating national identity and inclusive democracy. The program starts in South Africa and continues to Namibia. Classes in history, political science, religion, and wellness–or even choose an internship as part of your semester. All courses are taught in English. For fall 2020 and Spring 2021: CGEE is providing **FREE AIRFARE** for Auggies.

+++ COMMUNICATION & MEDIA STUDIES: MIGRATION & SOCIAL CHANGE IN MEXICO +++
Develop yourself as a socially conscious media professional equipped for the challenges of modern-day media! Engage with experienced professionals on responsible journalism on critical issues such as (im)migration and the environment. Listen to the stories from those traditionally marginalized by society. No Spanish language proficiency required.

+++ LIBERAL ARTS, LANGUAGE, AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN MEXICO +++
This program immerses you in Mexican culture, includes multiple excursions, and fosters friendships with Mexican students. With many elective course options, you can complete your language requirements, liberal arts requirements, and Augsburg Experience. No Spanish language proficiency required.

It is likely you have seen the reports of something called ‘zoom bombing’. Zoom bombing occurs when someone gains access to your zoom meeting – uninvited – and carries out some sort of attack. They might share unpleasantness in the chat, by voice, video, or screen share.

Zoom has recently rolled out some additional security controls and our fabulous LFC’s have put together some instructions on how to protect your class using these controls and other Zoom settings.

Safety, security, and privacy is important, so please be sure to review these tips to limit the chances of this happening to you.

In this episode of The Forum Podcast, Dr. Kenneth Nowack (Envisia Learning, Inc.) dives into new research on how to measure and change a key aspect of an effective company and team culture: interpersonal trust and psychological safety.

Dr. Nowack presents the latest neuroscience research around interpersonal trust and its relationship to the hormone oxytocin that provides insight about the biological survival roots of unconscious bias and in-group bias. Finally, Dr. Nowack will explore the link between high-trust teams with important employee outcomes such as retention, engagement, reduced job burnout, and well-being.

This course is taught by experienced GRE test-prep educators. Throughout the course students will have a chance to complete practice problems for each area of the test and receive in-depth feedback and instruction. The registration fee also includes a six-month subscription to the online GRE study tool, Magoosh.

Dr. Nowack presents the latest neuroscience research around interpersonal trust and its relationship to the hormone oxytocin that provides insight about the biological survival roots of unconscious bias and in-group bias. Greetings beloved members of the Augsburg community,

First, I want to thank you for your patience in this time, for your commitment to learning, and for your support of Augsburg Day Student Government. We are in an unprecedented time of change, and the role that you, the student body, play in helping Augsburg navigate these challenges is crucial.

I know that this week comes with a ramp up in work as we approach finals, so I wanted to be sure to present the University’s official responses to the resolutions that the current student government leadership has passed to date. The document attached was compiled by members of Augsburg’s leadership and reviewed by President Pribbenow before sending to you. It documents the work Augsburg has done to date on the topics highlighted in the ASDG resolutions.

We recognize — and I know you do as well — that there is still work to do, so let me close by saying that we look forward to ongoing partnership and communication between the Student body, the Augsburg Day Student Government, and University Administrators as we move forward in the final weeks of this semester, through the summer, and into the upcoming school year.

At its last meeting, AAC met via Zoom with student representative Miracle Adebanjo, who communicated that the transition to online teaching has prompted a deep and widespread sense of anxiety among the student body. In most cases students did not sign up for online classes, and most faculty have little experience teaching them. Many students are attempting to finish their semesters in challenging home environments, and some will unfortunately have to cope with dire financial or health crises. Given these unprecedented circumstances, the Academic Affairs Committee strongly urges all faculty to consider student work for the remainder of this semester with the maximum amount of flexibility, generosity, and–most of all–compassion. Some examples might include:

-accepting late work with little or no penalty
-relaxing attendance and participation policies
-grading on a curve

A low pass (LP) grade has been added to the P/N grading scale for undergraduate courses.

The grade scale is P = C- or above; LP = D-, D, D+; and N = F. Students earn credit for a P or LP grade. P, LP, and N grades do not impact GPA.

Students may submit a request to change a grade to P, LP, or N by the deadline published in the Academic Calendar. Course instructors will not be notified of the request. The Registrar’s Office will manually change the earned letter grade to P, LP or N after final grades are posted.
