Qualtrics has informed us that they’re retiring the Classic Reports in favor of the new Advanced Reports. Below is what they have said:
Over the last 24 months, we’ve been working hard to develop an improved and modern reporting experience. The new and improved Advanced Reports experience is now available to all of our customers and offers a number of benefits including: a new simplified user experience, better application performance and increased stability in report generation. After October 31st, 2020, you will lose access to any reports which were created with Classic Reports, including scheduled emails and public reports. To view Classic Reports in a user account, navigate to the Advanced Reports page (Reports tab > Reports section), click on the name of the advanced report and select View Classic Reports from the dropdown.

Each year URGO offers $1,325 research grants for undergraduates who wish to gain research experience with an Augsburg faculty member. These grants require 100 hours of research over the course of the academic year and are a great way to ease into research or to continue work on an existing project.
Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, so student-faculty research teams are encouraged to submit proposals in the fall. The URGO Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly and will begin reviewing proposals September 14th.

We will not be renewing our subscription to hoonuit (formerly Atomic Learning) which provides online short tutorial videos on many topics including software like Microsoft products. Over the past 2 years usage has declined greatly and Augsburg is not getting enough value from the subscription. Based on current analytics this impact is minimal due to low usage. There’s an abundance of free tutorial videos online now easily found through searching.

The E-Learning team will be on hand to practice Advanced Zoom hosting skills (e.g., breakout rooms, polling, reactions and participant responses, multiple devices & log-ons, annotation, and screen-sharing) in small groups in breakout rooms. This will be an excellent opportunity to gain experience with these tools in a low-stakes, collegial environment.
This lab add-on to Tech Tune-ups and Tips will take place from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm tomorrow. Checkout the workshop “What’s New in Moodle 2020” from 10 am – 11 am, take a 30 minute break, and then test out your skills during the lab.

CTL is joining Bridget Robinson-Riegler, Psychology Professor and member of Faculty Senate, to bring you Fellowship Fridays support sessions. All faculty members and teaching staff are invited to gather and share their experiences with teaching, learning, and advising in this strange new world. – we’ll trade ideas, advice, highs, lows, successes, and failures – or maybe we’ll just plain old vent. Most importantly, we will attempt to inoculate ourselves against one of the more insidious side effects of this pandemic – isolation. So grab a cup of coffee or tea, or pour a glass of wine, and Zoom in to support your fellow instructors and work through this challenging time together.

Faculty, if you haven’t already noticed it, there is a new course on your Moodle 2020-21 Dashboard entitled Moodle Showcase. This course contains exemplary samples of your colleagues’ Moodle courses. The site showcases the use of images by James Vela-McConnell, an Online Group Presentation Assignment by Christina Erickson, VoiceThread LTI (integrated VT) by Kris McHale and Susan Loushin, H5P Interactive Videos by Lynda Enright, Activity Completion by Henry Yoon, and the Moodle Lesson by Phyllis Kapetanakis. Make sure you explore this site for ideas as you plan your own courses for the Fall.

COURSE PURPOSE: Black Minds Matter is a public series that is designed to raise the national consciousness about issues facing Black students in education. The series intentionally addresses the pervasive undervaluing and criminalization of Black minds. Tangible solutions for promoting the learning, development, and success of Black students are offered.
-Identify how assumptions of criminality about Black students are manifested in school, college, and university settings.
-Recognize how socially constructed viewpoints of Black intelligence decenter them as learners in educational institutions.
-Embrace asset-based views of Black students rooted in the concepts of equity-mindedness and institutional responsibility.
-Articulate research-based policies and practices that serve to promote the learning, development, and success of Black students throughout the educational pipeline.

We are limiting the number of student researchers supported during the 20-21 academic year to 12 students and funding will be determined by a first-come, first-serve basis. Faculty from any discipline who need assistance with their research from a student are invited to participate in the pilot. An individual faculty member may propose only one student position who will work 5-20 hours per week and no more than their federal work-study allotment. During the 20-21 academic year, the research projects must follow Augsburg’s guidelines regarding Covid-19.
Please note that the student eligibility for federal work-study and the total number of hours must be confirmed by Human Resources after you complete this form. Open until all 12 positions are filled.
If the student will work 100 hours or less total, we recommend applying instead for the URGO Academic Year research grant.

All faculty members and teaching staff are invited to gather and share their experiences with teaching, learning, and advising in this strange new world. – we’ll trade ideas, advice, highs, lows, successes, and failures – or maybe we’ll just plain old vent. Most importantly, we will attempt to inoculate ourselves against one of the more insidious side effects of this pandemic – isolation. So grab a cup of coffee or tea, or pour a glass of wine, and Zoom in to support your fellow instructors and work through this challenging time together.

Each year URGO offers $1,325 research grants for undergraduates who wish to gain research experience with an Augsburg faculty member. These grants require 100 hours of research over the course of the academic year and are a great way to ease into research or to continue work on an existing project.
Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, so student-faculty research teams are encouraged to submit proposals in the fall. The URGO Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly and will begin reviewing proposals September 14th.

This is a pilot program supporting undergraduate research students through federal work-study funds. We are limiting the number of student researchers supported during the 20-21 academic year to 12 students and funding will be determined by a first-come, first-serve basis. Faculty from any discipline who need assistance with their research from a student are invited to participate in the pilot. An individual faculty member may propose only one student position who will work 5-20 hours per week and no more than their federal work-study allotment. During the 20-21 academic year, the research projects must follow Augsburg’s guidelines regarding Covid-19.
Please note that the student eligibility for federal work-study and the total number of hours must be confirmed by Human Resources after you complete this form. Open until all 12 positions are filled.
If the student will work 100 hours or less total, we recommend applying instead for the URGO Academic Year research grant.

We will not be renewing our subscription to hoonuit (formerly Atomic Learning) which provides online short tutorial videos on many topics including software like Microsoft products. Over the past 2 years usage has declined greatly and Augsburg is not getting enough value from the subscription. Based on current analytics this impact is minimal due to low usage. There’s an abundance of free tutorial videos online now easily found through searching.

Linking your Google Calendar to Moodle so students can schedule office hour appointments can streamline the process and encourage students to connect. The first 15 minutes will demonstrate how to do this. The rest of the hour will offer different options for how to schedule and hold virtual office hours to help you connect with students outside of class.

We will not be renewing our subscription to hoonuit (formerly Atomic Learning) which provides online short tutorial videos on many topics including software like Microsoft products. Over the past 2 years usage has declined greatly and Augsburg is not getting enough value from the subscription. Based on current analytics this impact is minimal due to low usage. There’s an abundance of free tutorial videos online now easily found through searching.

COURSE PURPOSE: Black Minds Matter is a public series that is designed to raise the national consciousness about issues facing Black students in education. The series intentionally addresses the pervasive undervaluing and criminalization of Black minds. Tangible solutions for promoting the learning, development, and success of Black students are offered.
-Identify how assumptions of criminality about Black students are manifested in school, college, and university settings.
-Recognize how socially constructed viewpoints of Black intelligence decenter them as learners in educational institutions.
-Embrace asset-based views of Black students rooted in the concepts of equity-mindedness and institutional responsibility.
-Articulate research-based policies and practices that serve to promote the learning, development, and success of Black students throughout the educational pipeline.

The time has come to upgrade our Moodle Community site. The upgrade will not automatically move Moodle Community courses or sites over to the new instance (the exception for this is major and minor sites). Site managers can copy over their sites to the new instance.IT will manually copy or migrate courses and sites over, ONLY if requested via the form below. The current and new instance of Moodle Community will be available till Fall or until the migration is completed. Please fill out the Google form linked below to have your Moodle Community course or site copied over.

Each year URGO offers $1,325 research grants for undergraduates who wish to gain research experience with an Augsburg faculty member. These grants require 100 hours of research over the course of the academic year and are a great way to ease into research or to continue work on an existing project.
Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, so student-faculty research teams are encouraged to submit proposals in the fall. The URGO Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly and will begin reviewing proposals September 14th.

Qualtrics has informed us that they’re retiring the Classic Reports in favor of the new Advanced Reports. Below is what they have said:
Over the last 24 months, we’ve been working hard to develop an improved and modern reporting experience. The new and improved Advanced Reports experience is now available to all of our customers and offers a number of benefits including: a new simplified user experience, better application performance and increased stability in report generation. After October 31st, 2020, you will lose access to any reports which were created with Classic Reports, including scheduled emails and public reports. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to rebuild reports on the Advanced Reports platform and to download a PDF copy of existing reports you wish to keep.
To view Classic Reports in a user account, navigate to the Advanced Reports page (Reports tab > Reports section), click on the name of the advanced report and select View Classic Reports from the dropdown.

The first 15 minutes will focus on how to use the Moodle Attendance activity to streamline this record-keeping. The rest of the hour will address strategies and activities that will encourage your students to resist the temptation to cheat.

We are limiting the number of student researchers supported during the 20-21 academic year to 12 students and funding will be determined by a first-come, first-serve basis. Faculty from any discipline who need assistance with their research from a student are invited to participate in the pilot. An individual faculty member may propose only one student position who will work 5-20 hours per week and no more than their federal work-study allotment. During the 20-21 academic year, the research projects must follow Augsburg’s guidelines regarding Covid-19.
Please note that the student eligibility for federal work-study and the total number of hours must be confirmed by Human Resources after you complete this form. Open until all 12 positions are filled.
If the student will work 100 hours or less total, we recommend applying instead for the URGO Academic Year research grant.

Faculty, if you haven’t already noticed it, there is a new course on your Moodle 2020-21 Dashboard entitled Moodle Showcase. This course contains exemplary samples of your colleagues’ Moodle courses. The site showcases the use of images by James Vela-McConnell, an Online Group Presentation Assignment by Christina Erickson, VoiceThread LTI (integrated VT) by Kris McHale and Susan Loushin, H5P Interactive Videos by Lynda Enright, Activity Completion by Henry Yoon, and the Moodle Lesson by Phyllis Kapetanakis. CTL is joining Bridget Robinson-Riegler, Psychology Professor and member of Faculty Senate, to bring you Fellowship Fridays support sessions. All faculty members and teaching staff are invited to gather and share their experiences with teaching, learning, and advising in this strange new world. – we’ll trade ideas, advice, highs, lows, successes, and failures – or maybe we’ll just plain old vent. Most importantly, we will attempt to inoculate ourselves against one of the more insidious side effects of this pandemic – isolation. So grab a cup of coffee or tea, or pour a glass of wine, and Zoom in to support your fellow instructors and work through this challenging time together.

Timely feedback is essential in motivating students to continue to engage in an online class. Previous sessions have introduced asynchronous active learning technologies that can provide immediate feedback (e.g., the Moodle lesson, H5P Interactive video, VoiceThread LTI, Moodle quizzes). This session will give you a “student’s perspective” on Moodle grading as well as important strategies for ensuring students’ have an accurate sense of their grades throughout the semester.
