PA Program Opportunity

submitted by hegrenes@augsburg.edu

The Augsburg PA program is seeking people assigned female at birth who are interested in being a gynecological (GYN) simulated (SIM) patient for our Physician Assistant students. The GYN simulated patients provide students with the opportunity to examine the female anatomy utilizing their own body and personal feedback to help students learn to perform a thorough and patient-centered pelvic and speculum exam. GYN simulated patients need to have an intact uterus, cervix, and ovaries (no history of hysterectomy).

The examination will be performed in a secure, professional setting that is supervised by Physician Assistants, Physicians, and/or Nurses Practitioners. This is an opportunity to participate in the educational process and help prepare Physician Assistant students to perform pelvic and speculum examinations. This role is not recommended or advised for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or trauma.

This position is a time block of 4-5 hours during our spring semester. Reimbursement is per pelvic exam at a rate of $65 per exam, with an average of 6-8 exams per session. If you have questions or if you are interested in learning more about the process of being a gynecological simulated patient please contact:
