Personalized Augsburg University Envelopes Ready to Order

submitted by davenpoj@augsburg.edu

If you are one of the few departments that use personalized envelopes, the new Augsburg University envelopes are now ready to order! You must place your order by 4 PM Monday, August 21 in order to receive them the last week in August. Or, order them whenever you want thereafter.

The order site is where it always has been: Inside Augsburg, Central Services. Note, if you haven’t created a user name and login for this envelope site, you need to create one on your first visit. There is not a shared credential like the other order sites. Your own login enables you to reorder an exact item by going to your order history. If you have a login already, check your history to see if you have ordered your envelope before. If so, click reorder and the personaliztion will simply be transferered to the new University envelope.

Personalized envelopes come in many sizes, all with the general Augsburg University return address. There is room for up to two lines of personalization above the address. Personalized envelopes are significantly more expensive than general envelopes, so if there is not a specific purpose for personalizing, the general envelopes should serve your mailing purposes well. Note that general (non-personalized) envelopes are being ordered by Central Services and you can requisition these in later August via the upcoming NEW copy request and paper supplies storefront online order system.

Please, direct questions to the Copy Center at 612-330-1054.

submitted by davenpoj@augsburg.edu

New copiers will be installed around campus this week. If you have a Canon copier in your area, it will be replaced by a Sharp copier, and there are a few HP printers being replaced by Sharp copiers. submitted by weisss@augsburg.edu

All Auggies — students, faculty, and staff — are invited to the Augsburg University Kick-Off on September 5. The day will include traditional and new experiences for the full community and is intended to be a festival-like atmosphere as we officially become Augsburg University.

The schedule includes:

–10:30 a.m.: Kick-Off Celebration and Lunch in the Quadrangle. Food stations will be set up throughout the Quadrangle. Community members will be able to have Augsburg University logo t-shirts screen printed onsite, participate in a photo-booth, make hygiene kits for the Health Commons, and check out a special “reveal” on Science Hall. Large-party format games, stilt walkers, and more are part of the celebration.
–1 p.m.: First-Year Student Service Projects

All faculty, students, and staff are encouraged to set aside a portion of their day to join the festivities and celebrate!

New Copiers Installed Week of August 14

submitted by davenpoj@augsburg.edu

New copiers will be installed around campus the week of August 14. If you have a Canon copier in your area, it will be replaced by a Sharp copier. I think you will like the pull-out keyboard (in addition to the touchscreen) if you scan to other e-mail addresses and add a subject or notes to your scan. I think you will also appreciate the ease of using your fob to access the copier rather than entering a code, and having a one-touch button to scan to your e-mail. Training will be provided at the machine as soon as it is installed. You can share that training with others in your area who are not available or call the Copy Center at x1054 afterwards to schedule follow-up training later.

Installation schedule:
Monday, August 14 – Christensen Center, Urness, Mortensen
Tuesday, August 15 – Lindell Library, Oren Gateway Center
Wednesday, August 16 – Anderson Hall, Memorial Hall
Thursday, August 17 – Science, Sverdrup
Friday, August 18 – Foss, Music, Si-Melby, Kennedy, Ice Arena, Luther Seminary, and Rochester

Note that the Copy Center will be getting new machines too, so there may be a time early in the week where response time on your copy requests may be delayed.

While the behind-the-scene work continues (electrical, grading, ventilation, etc.), this phase of construction tends to be even more exciting for onlookers. Future Auggie Panel on Technology Expectations

submitted by krajewsk@augsburg.edu

Oren Gateway 200
Wednesday July 26, 2017
4:15PM – 5:00PM
Snacks will be provided.

What do future auggies expect from Augsburg when it comes to technology?

What do future auggies expect from their courses, faculty and campus?

The Augsburg IT Department is sponsoring a future student panel to explore what technology future auggies expect. Come see a moderated panel where three incoming first year students will talk about what they expect from Augsburg’s technology.

Teenagers have grown up in a world where technology is everywhere and how they learn is infused with technology. Many K-12 systems have laptop programs, smartboards, and use tools like moodle. This sets an expectation and shapes how they learn — we need to understand this digital reality so we can help students succeed in the college environment. Come and hear from this panel and engage with them on questions you have about their digital reality.
