Farewell Gathering Planned for Denielle Stepka

Come celebrate Denielle Stepka’s new career opportunity during an on-campus farewell event planned for Wednesday, September 29, from 2:30–3:30 p.m.

Denielle will be leaving her position as the Assistant Director of Marketing to pursue a new role with Wixon Jewelers. During her more than seven-year employment at Augsburg, Denielle has been exceptional at finding creative ways to enhance Augsburg’s print pieces, on-campus spaces, and digital properties through design. We thank her for years of dedication to Augsburg (and Luther Seminary!) and for the many ways she has supported students, faculty, and staff.

We will host a gathering outdoors on the quad for the university community. But, if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll celebrate in the Christensen Center’s Student Art Gallery area instead.

Come celebrate Joe Mann’s new career opportunity this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Joe will be leaving his position as web manager for Augsburg University and Luther Seminary at the end of the week to pursue a new role with Equisoft. During his more than eight-year employment at Augsburg, Joe has been exceptional at tackling complex problems, thinking strategically about what’s best in the current moment, and developing solutions that will be sustainable for the long term. Joe’s strength in troubleshooting, attention to detail, and clear communication will be tremendous assets for Equisoft. We thank him for his dedication to Augsburg and Luther and for the many ways he has supported students, faculty, and staff.

We will be hosting a Zoom gathering for the university community from 3:30-4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21. Drop in and wish Joe well.

December Focused Conversations: Next Week (Wednesday and Thursday)

The December Focused Conversations will focus on three areas of Augsburg’s diversity and inclusion work:

First, Chief Diversity Officer Joanne Reeck will provide an in-depth review of how Augsburg’s Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program has grown and discuss feedback from participants about how the program has helped them in their ongoing work at Augsburg.

In addition, the Focused Conversation will include an update from Chief Student Success Officer Katie Bishop regarding Augsburg’s equity work in support of student success.

Finally, Ann Garvey, vice president for Student Affairs, and Kathy McGillivray, Director of the CLASS Office, will provide a brief overview of the Accessibility Subcommittee—which is part of the University Council structure as a subcommittee of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity University Committee.

Paid Summer Experience: URGO Summer Research Info Session: TODAY

Get the scoop on writing a strong application! And pizza!

The URGO Summer Research Program is an 11-week, on-campus program where undergraduate students are funded to conduct research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Student researchers gain important analytic, technical, and writing skills that are important for graduate school and careers. The URGO program is also includes a weekly Speaker Series focused on research skills and professional development, as well as weekly seminars with fellow researchers. Students from all disciplines are invited to participate, and past projects have ranged from biology lab work to theater performance.

URGO provides full-time summer researchers (400 hours) with a $4,000 stipend while half-time researchers (200 hours) receive a $2,000 stipend. Both receive a significant campus housing discount as well. The program runs from mid-May to the end of July and students must plan to be enrolled at Augsburg for Fall 2019 to be eligible.

In addition to the URGO Summer Research Program, URGO also funds 100-hour summer research assistantships where undergraduate students assist a faculty member with an ongoing research project. Research Assistants and mentors determine how to spread the 100 hours of work over the course of the summer and it is an excellent opportunity to try out research for the first time or focus on a specific aspect of a research project.

It’s Model UN application time

Apply now to take the spring semester Model UN course, POL 368. Members of this class will participate in the 59th Midwest Model United Nations from February 20-23, 2019, held in St. Louis, Missouri.

In this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of the United Nations and international diplomacy through the process of preparation for attending the conference in February. Students research a country and set of issues for the committee on which they will serve.

The conference provides experiential learning that enables you to develop a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN, and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. This opportunity is a great chance to put your learning into practice!

Students who were in attendance voiced their expectations of ADSG and the university’s administration.

Each year URGO offers $1,000 research grants for undergraduates who wish to gain research experience with an Augsburg faculty member. These grants require 100 hours of research over the course of the academic year and are a great way to ease into research or to continue work on an existing project.

The application is available at the URGO website (www.augsburg.edu/urgo) at the “on-campus research” page. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, so student-faculty research teams are encouraged to submit proposals in the fall. The URGO Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly and will begin reviewing proposals September 10th.

New University Course Survey ready for use

Faculty,
The new University Course Survey is now in the hands of students. Remember that the recently faculty-approved form is shorter and focuses squarely on student perceptions of their course experiences. Faculty are expected to dedicate 5-10 minutes of class time to completing the form. Be sure to let students know ahead of time (and post on your Moodle site) so they can bring a mobile device; since forms are voluntary, the faculty member must leave the room for this activity. A recommended protocol is included in a message from the University Course Survey system. Using class time boosts response rates to an acceptable level, thus poor response rates are likely to be a failure to follow this protocol.

We also encourage good practice in having faculty collect their own customized data on pedagogy, assignments, and recommendations for future changes in the course using Moodle or pen and paper during class time.

URGO Conference Travel Grants Available for Student Researchers

URGO offers up to $850 in travel funding for Augsburg undergraduates who have been accepted to present research at a professional conference. These funds can mitigate the high costs of travel such as airfare and lodging, and can contribute to students’ professionalization.

The application is available at the URGO website (www.augsburg.edu/urgo) at the “conference travel” page. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to work with their research mentor to submit a travel application as soon as possible after receiving acceptance to a conference. The URGO Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly throughout the school year and will begin reviewing applications September 10th.

You can record your feedback on a laptop during the presentation. Upon clicking “Save,” Moodle adds up the score, enters the grade into the gradebook, and alerts the student to check for your comments. In an effort to destigmatize the usage of food pantries and food shelves, particularly the one on campus, I’m looking for some students who would be interested in having their portrait taken and sharing their experience with either Campus Cupboard, food insecurity, hunger, or any other issue food-related.
The photos will be pieced together into a poster to show that food insecurity does not discriminate and that Augsburg students experience it too. You’ll also receive a digital copy of your picture.

LSAMP – North Star STEM Alliance SUMMIT Summer Research Program: Apply in February

Underrepresented students in STEM can now apply for summer research under the NSF-funded SUMMIT program.

To be eligible for the SUMMIT program, students must:

-be a United States citizen, national or permanent resident
-be enrolled in an undergraduate STEM degree program
-self-identify as a minority or underrepresented group (Black, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander, Alaska Native)
-complete and submit all application materials by the February deadline.

In the SUMMIT program, Plant Science and Biology majors will be mentored by Ph.D. researchers who are working toward the understanding of the mechanism of meiotic recombination using modern genomic, molecular biology, and cytogenetic techniques. This multi-institutional collaborative group will be supporting undergraduate student research opportunities for the Summer at either the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities or Cornell University – Ithaca, NY. Each selected participant will receive a stipend of $5,000. Supplemental travel and housing funds are also available. Students should be available to complete research between June 4, 2018 to August 10, 2018.

The SUMMIT program application deadline is Monday, February 26th, 2018.

Good Morning! I will be teaching yoga at Augsburg this semester. Please join us TODAY from 12:15 pm- 1:00 pm in the Racquetball Court (Si-Melby 130). This class will take place every Wednesday until the end of the semester.
We will practice flowing breath to movement, staying in the present moment, and challenging our bodies through different poses during this 45 minute yoga practice. Mats will be available if you do not have your own mat. Open to all students, staff, faculty, and any others part of the Augsburg community. During Spring Break this year, March 10th – 17th, we will be traveling to Laredo, Texas with Habitat for Humanity for Alternative Spring Break. This trip is a great chance for students to travel during spring break while also making a positive difference in the Laredo community. The cost is $250 and includes lodging, transportation, and most meals. A $100 deposit is due at registration to secure your spot. Registration is open til February 9th.

Health Care Competencies

Dr. Keneeshia Williams (’03 Biology and Chemistry) will speak on how she developed essential core competencies and how health care professionals work as a team. Dr. Williams received her MD degree from the University of Illinois at Peoria and completed her general surgery residency at University of Illinois at Mount Sinai Hospital. She completed a research residency in trauma and burn research and did her surgical critical care/acute care surgery fellowship at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson. This sabbatical project titled “Constructing a Written Identity” combines two disciplinary areas–sociolinguistics and rhetoric–by focusing on social status and written identity. The manuscript in progress explores language use through a series of concerns addressing language varieties: codes, registers, dialects, and the use of Standard English. It also explores differences among written genres and the demands of communication within disciplinary boundaries. These concerns combine as manifestations of social power and powerlessness that derive from a writer’s self-presentation in discourse.

Professor Dal Liddle Awarded Prestigious Curran Fellowship

Professor Dallas Liddle of the English Department was recently awarded a 2018 Curran Fellowship by the scholarly organization Research Society for Victorian Periodicals. Curran Fellowships are awards of up to $5000 to support primary and archival research into the Victorian periodical press, funded by a bequest from pioneering periodicals researcher Eileen Curran of Colby College. Liddle’s project is a book manuscript on the systems history of Victorian newspapers titled “News Machines: Technology and Agency in British Daily Journalism, 1785-1885.” The fellowship award will support a research trip to London in June 2018 to view artifacts and materials at the British Library, Science Museum, London School of Economics, News UK Archive, and St. Bride Printing Library.

TRIO McNair Scholars Program Recruiting for Fall 2018

Augsburg’s TRIO McNair Scholars Program is recruiting students for Fall 2018 admission. Eligible applicants will be at Junior status by the end of Spring 2019 and available to conduct full-time research Summer 2019. We are particularly looking for students in STEM fields that are interested in pursuing doctoral degrees, but we will consider all majors EXCEPT most professional fields (including business, pre-law, pre-health).

The TRIO McNair Scholars Program works with students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate education and who exhibit strong academic potential. The goal of the program is to prepare Scholars for graduate study through academics, involvement in undergraduate research and other scholarly activities. McNair provides coursework, workshops and advising in preparation for doctoral study. The program also assists with securing admission to and financial assistance for enrollment in graduate programs. Students will acquire the research skills necessary to succeed in graduate school through a paid research internship ($4000) with an Augsburg faculty member during the Summer of 2019.

The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Therefore, to be eligible, students must be first-generation (neither parent graduated from a four-year college) AND low-income OR may be persons from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The Department of Education defines these groups as African-American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, and Hispanic/Latino. Additionally, applicants must be either U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and maintain at last a 2.8 cumulative GPA (3.0+ preferred).

Apply to be in one of Augsburg’s 3 Public Leadership Scholar Programs:Christensen Scholars, Interfaith Scholars, or Sabo Scholars.

In any one of the programs you will have the opportunity to participate in a yearlong academic seminar with a cohort of your peers. You will contribute to public leadership on campus and in the wider community in either the Christian tradition, interfaith engagement, or civic life. You will also be able to earn 4 upper division semester credits in the Religion or Political Science along with receiving a $2,000 scholarship.

Current sophomores and juniors who plan to study on campus all of the 2017-18 academic year are eligible to apply.

Mexico: Summer study abroad program

Earn language, Art, Keystone, or Internship credit in Mexico this summer:
AUGSBURG CGEE IN MEXICO: LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN MEXICO

CGEE in Mexico offers five 3 1/2 week sessions (blocks) focusing on Spanish language and Mexican culture in which students can take one course per session, and take up to five courses throughout the summer. This community-based program includes homestays, a trip to Mexico City, optional weekend excursions, and numerous guest speakers designed to help students learn about history, culture, and contemporary struggles for peace, justice, and human rights.

Spanish language courses at all levels beginning to advanced, as well as specialized Spanish courses in Business Spanish, Spanish for Ministry, and Spanish for Healthcare Professionals can be combined with internships in those fields to create a truly customized summer experience.

2018 PROGRAM DATES
The summer is organized into five blocks, you may take anywhere from one to five blocks. Students who wish to take an internship must enroll for at least two blocks:
Block I: May 2-27
Block II: May 23-June 17 (KEY 490 offered only during Block II)
Block III: June 13-July 8
Block IV: July 5-29
Block V: July 25-August 19

Applications are due March 15, 2018

Scholarships are available!

Students eligible for Summer Pell Grants, may apply the summer grant funds to this program if they attend at least two Blocks.

New Public Relations Director, Gita Sitaramiah, Joins Augsburg

I am pleased to announce that Augsburg’s new director of public relations and internal communications, Gita Sitaramiah, begins today, January 15.

As part of the integrated Augsburg-Luther Seminary marketing and communication team, Gita will work with Briana Alamilla, communication and social media specialist (Augsburg), and Katie Langston, associate director of internal communication (Luther), to integrate news, social media, and internal communications planning and execution initiatives for both institutions.

Gita brings extensive journalism and public relations experience to the PR director position — including writing for print, radio, video and social meeting as well as preparing executives and others for media interviews. Gita most recently was communications director at the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging and, prior to that, led public relations and communications at Greater MSP. Previously, Gita was a reporter for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and a number of other metropolitan news outlets. She earned a bachelor’s in English with a French minor from the University of Minnesota and completed a Master of Public Affairs at the Humphrey School.

During Spring Break this year, March 10th – 17th, we will be traveling to Laredo, Texas with Habitat for Humanity for Alternative Spring Break. This trip is a great chance for students to travel during spring break while also making a positive difference in the Laredo community. The cost is $250 and includes lodging, transportation, and most meals. A $100 deposit is due at registration to secure your spot. Registration is between January 8th and February 2nd.

Palestine and Israel: Summer study abroad program

Study abroad for two weeks in summer 2018:
INTERFAITH ENGAGEMENT IN PALESTINE AND ISRAEL

Courses: RLN 205 or RLN 490. This program also fulfills Augsburg Experience

Join this two-week course to gain a transformational learning experience. You will be immersed in the Israeli and Palestinian contexts, particularly focusing on the three Abrahamic faiths – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Through lectures, readings, and conversations you will deepen your understanding of the history, sacred texts, beliefs and practices of the three Abrahamic faiths. Particular attention will be given to the roots of conflicts in the region and to peacebuilding movements.
We will visit holy sites that are at the center of the sacred stories that shape the beliefs and practices of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. We will hear how faith shapes the daily lives of those living in the land often called “holy.”

LSAMP NSS Funding Opportunities for Underrepresented Students in STEM

Are you an underrepresented student pursuing a degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)? If so, you might be eligible to participate in LSAMP North Star STEM (NSS). Augsburg’s LSAMP NSS program is designed to help STEM students succeed through peer mentoring, workshops, research opportunities, industry visits, and conference travel. LSAMP NSS funding opportunities include:

-Professional development stipends (up to $500) for participation in LSAMP NSS programming
-Travel funding for professional STEM conferences (including airfare and lodging)
-Academic year or summer research funding (contingent on mentor match)

STEM majors at Augsburg: biology, biopsychology, chemistry, computer science, environmental studies, mathematics, physics

LSAMP NSS eligibility:
-Full-time student pursuing a STEM major.
-US citizen or permanent resident.
-Underrepresented in STEM as defined by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This includes being Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American, Alaska Native or Pacific Islander.

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) is an initiative funded by the NSF to support underrepresented students pursuing a STEM degree. Minnesota’s LSAMP program is called the North Star STEM Alliance and includes 17 colleges, universities and community organizations.

The Sesquicentennial Academic Sub-Committee is looking for project ideas and project leaders that will make the celebration of our Sesquicentennial year a special year for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Augsburg. Funds are available for evocative projects of all kinds that reflect Augsburg’s mission, academic excellence and community. The 150th anniversary will be celebrated between Homecoming 2019 and Homecoming 2020. Our aim is to have all Sesquicentennial projects identified by Spring 2018.

Paid Fellowship for Trip to Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C.

The MINNE Holocaust Fellows program annually selects college students to participate in a fully-paid, one-day trip to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. to acquire a more in-depth knowledge of the Holocaust. Fellows tour the permanent exhibits and featured exhibits, as well as meet with a museum representative. Awards come through the MINNE Fund of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation, who has chosen Augsburg to be one of the select few universities to participate in the program. Multiple Augsburg students were selected last year for the trip.

The 2018 trip will take place on April 24th. Applications are due on February 28th and can be found at http://jewishminneapolis.org/minne/. Take Control of Your Health: Register Now for January Biometrics Health Screening

To kick off Augsburg Total Wellness for 2018, Augsburg Faculty and Staff will have the opportunity to participate in an on-site health screening event that will include a fasting biometric test. On-campus screenings will be held from January 30th through February 1st, in East Commons, Christensen Center.

Please note that you will need to fast 8-10 hours prior to your appointment. The health screen includes: total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, blood pressure and BMI.

Participation in the biometrics health screen is free, confidential, and entirely voluntary. Registration is required. All faculty and staff enrolled in the HDHP, who complete the health screening, will be eligible to receive a $50 HSA contribution. Those not eligible for an HSA contribution will be entered into a separate prize drawing.

Two students will be selected to join a group of a 16 students taking courses in Oslo, Norway at the International Summer School and the Nansen Dialogue Center in June & July 2018. Program and tuition costs are covered by the program (students cover the cost of their airfare). The Peace Scholars take a leading role in promoting student participation in the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, hosted each year by Augsburg University, and spend a few hours each month working in the Peace Prize Forum office.

Students can now apply for the 2017-18 NASA Space Grant Undergraduate Scholarship Program at Augsburg College. This scholarship program supports the advancement of academically focused undergraduates seeking professional careers in the natural sciences, especially space physics & engineering, mathematics, and science/mathematics education.

This competitive program awards 6 scholarships for spring semester, 2018, in the following areas:
**Emerging Scholarship (Sophomore-Junior). Four scholarships of $1000 to encourage students whose course of study shows progress in meeting the criteria of this scholarship program.
**Enhanced Scholarship (Sophomore-Senior). Two scholarships of $2000 to support students who have shown considerable progress in meeting the criteria of this scholarship program.

Strong candidates for the grant will be students who…
-are a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, pre-engineering, or mathematics/science education;
-can demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership within their major area; and
-show an interest in contributing to NASA’s mission.

Please note that students from traditionally underrepresented groups in science and mathematics fields are especially encouraged to apply. No applicant shall be denied consideration based on race, creed, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, or ability.

Denmark and Iceland: Summer study abroad program

Study abroad for two weeks in summer 2018:
THE DARK SIDE OF THE HAPPY CITY IN DENMARK & ICELAND

Courses: ENL 270 or ENL 395, AND SOC 111/URB 111, or SOC 295/URB 295 The program also fulfills Augsburg Experience

In this program, students will have the opportunity to learn about two amazing cities: Reykjavik and Copenhagen and earn 8 credits at the same time! This two-course Augsburg Abroad experience explores the relationship between city and text; it is an interdisciplinary celebration of cities, with Reykjavik and Copenhagen and their environs as the sites of the celebration. Students will access the artistic heart of the city by immersing themselves in the real-life locations of Hamlet, Copenhagen Noir, and major films. Simultaneously, they will tour Copenhagen (often via bike and public transport) to learn why it is a mecca of urban sustainability and livability with some of the most inspired public spaces in the world. The program will also include a one-night stopover in Iceland, where students can explore Icelandic community life, explore its Viking history and storytelling (sagas).

We have multiple summer opportunities available for students.

URGO SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM
The URGO Summer Research Program is an 11-week, on-campus program where students are funded to conduct research with a faculty mentor. Students receive support throughout the research process from their faculty mentor, a Speaker Series, and weekly seminars with fellow researchers. URGO provides full-time summer researchers (400 hours) with a $4,000 stipend and housing discount while half-time researchers (200 hours) receive a $2,000 stipend. The program runs from May 14th – July 27th.

URGO SUMMER RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIPS
URGO also provides funding for students to work for a professor as a research assistant on an ongoing research project. This is a 100-hour commitment over the course of the summer and comes with a $1,000 stipend. This is an excellent opportunity to try out research for the first time or focus on a specific aspect of a research project.

Phase 1 of the applications are due February 1st, so start talking with your faculty now to learn about what research is going on in your department!

Course Evaluation Process Volunteers Needed

The course evaluation revision group is looking for faculty willing to pilot a different process for collecting end-of-term data and improving response rates. Faculty will be asked to have evaluations completed during class time, as was previously done with paper forms. If you are able to participate, this effort will allow us to collect comparative data on response rates. We will send specific instructions/guidance in early December. Hear from past researchers and get the scoop on writing a strong application!

The URGO Summer Research Program is an 11-week, on-campus program where undergraduate students are funded to conduct research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Student researchers gain important analytic, technical, and writing skills that are important for graduate school and careers. The URGO program is also includes a weekly Speaker Series focused on research skills and professional development, as well as weekly seminars with fellow researchers. Students from all disciplines are invited to participate, and past projects have ranged from biology lab work to theater performance.

URGO provides full-time summer researchers (400 hours) with a $4,000 stipend while half-time researchers (200 hours) receive a $2,000 stipend. Both receive a significant campus housing discount as well. The program runs from mid-May to the end of July and students must plan to be enrolled at Augsburg for Fall 2018 to be eligible.

URGO Summer Research Assistantships
In addition to the URGO Summer Research Program, URGO also funds 100-hour summer research assistantships where undergraduate students assist a faculty member with an ongoing research project. Research Assistants and mentors determine how to spread the 100 hours of work over the course of the summer and it is an excellent opportunity to try out research for the first time or focus on a specific aspect of a research project.

“No Parking” Notice

In accordance with Minnesota State Statute 169.34, no vehicles may park in the roundabout or crosswalk areas at 21st Ave. S. and 7th St. S. The roundabout is a traffic control device for an intersection, and parking within the roundabout creates an unnecessary safety hazard.

Beginning immediately, any vehicle parked in the roundabout or crosswalk areas will be ticketed, and beginning Monday 11/27/2017 any vehicles parked in the roundabout will be towed immediately. Any questions regarding parking on campus can be sent to parking@augsburg.edu.

Staff Senate is seeking nominations for the Auggie Pride Award! The Auggie Pride Award is given to staff members who have gone above and beyond to serve Augsburg and fulfill its mission and values. Reasons to acknowledge a staff member can include a variety of things, such as the completion of a project, the implementation of an innovative idea, or simply giving directions to a lost campus guest.

URGO Research and Travel Grants

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunity (URGO) offers $1,000 Academic-Year Research Grants to fund 100 hours of student research. Students who are interested in conducting research during the year are encouraged to seek out ongoing faculty research projects that they may join.

URGO also offers Conference Travel Grants of up to $850 for students who have been accepted to present their research at a professional conference.
Both applications can be found on the URGO website. The funds may be used at any time during the academic year, however the grants are given out on a rolling basis, so we recommend interested students apply in the fall.

Study in Mexico on Spring Break

Spend your spring break in Mexico and earn 4 credits!!!

On the spring break program, Indigenous Social Activism in Chiapas, Mexico, you will meet with and learn about various Indigenous people’s approaches to social activism, learn about Indigenous cosmology and spirituality, Indigenous sovereignty or autonomy, and Indigenous cooperative/businesses and educational systems.

You can choose one 4-credit course to take on this program:
AIS 305 – Indigenous Issues of the Americas (elective course)
AIS 490 – Indigenous Issues of the Americas (Keystone course)
CCS 295 – Topics: Global Crossroads & Indigenous Resistance in Chiapas, Mexico (meets requirement for CCS major of one travel seminar and an elective, OR general elective for non-majors)
SPA 495 – Topics: Global Crossroads & Indigenous Resistance in Chiapas, Mexico (meets requirement for one culture class or one elective (for the SPA major or minor))

October is Cyber Security Month – New Tool Being Added to Google Drive

October is Cyber Security Month. Come to an information session to hear briefly what the current cyber threats are, learn some tips that apply at work or home, share your experiences and strategies.

Also this winter IT is adding new tool to Google Drive to protect regulated data. What is regulated data? Come and find out! Adding this tools means we will not dissuade you from keeping FERPA data in Google Drive in 2018. We want to you to be able to fully use Google Drive in your work.

There will also be online self-paced information security training coming for faculty and staff as part of our work on information security. Come and find out more!

The winter break program, From Harry Potter to #Brexit: Youth Culture and Social Change in the UK, will examine the connections among popular culture, politics, and youth activism in 20th and 21st century Britain. Travel to the UK from December 28 to January 7!

The course, WST 220, is 4-credits and can fulfill a Humanities credit, or a requirement for WST majors/minors or for Youth Studies minors. This program also fulfills the Augsburg Experience requirement.

Focused Conversations Start Next Tuesday
