Compensation to Participate in an Auggie Skate Test Research Proposal

Dear Augsburg Students, Faculty, and Staff,
You are invited to participate in a research study on Predicting Maximal Oxygen Consumption with a Single Stage Auggie Skate Test. Research subjects are asked to be within 18-60 years old, healthy, active, moderately-fit male or female, and is a competent skater. You will be asked to complete a bruce protocol treadmill test to volitional fatigue and to return 48 hours later to complete a leisurely ice skating assessment. You will be compensated upon completion of each test with a $5 cash for a total of $10.

New Advisor in TRIO/SSS

The TRIO/ Student Support Services program welcomes Seth Rueter as our new Academic Advisor! Seth most recently worked with Residence Life at Augsburg, and also brings experience from Student Financial Aid and Academic Success departments at Iowa State University, as well as previous work with College Possible in Omaha. Seth holds a M.Ed. in Higher Education in Student Affairs from ISU, and his bachelors in criminal justice and psychology is from UW-Eau Claire, where — wait for it– he was also a TRIO/SSS student! #TRIOWORKS!

Seth’s first day with TRIO/SSS was June 17. He will be learning a lot in the next weeks to prepare for new student registration and Summer Bridge, and assuming staff advisor assignment for about 75 new and continuing TRIO students.

Please join us in welcoming Seth to his new role at Augsburg.

Make A Difference for Middle Schoolers – Judge at Debate Camp

Our Middle School MDAW Summer Camp starts next week! If you’re at high school age or older, we need you to be part of the fun as a volunteer judge on our Friday tournament.

At this tournament, our middle school campers have a chance to show off the skills they’ve gained over the last 5 days. With a mock tournament with real judges, camp’s learning process is complete!

Schedule for Friday, June 21st:

Round 1 – 9:30-10:30
Round 2 – 10:45-12:00
Round 3 – 1:00-2:15pm

No experience? No problem. We will train judges (& provide lunch.)

Afterwards, join us for the exciting awards ceremony for cupcakes and lots of smiles as kids win big and get recognized for their new debate skills!

Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference at Augsburg, July 15-17

Augsburg Faculty and Staff:

You are invited to attend the twenty-fifth annual Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference at Augsburg University from Monday, July 15 to Wednesday, July 17.

Each year, delegations from each of the ELCA Colleges come together to explore the distinct roles that they play in higher education. One of the benefits being the host site is that we have the option of inviting more than five people to attend. This year’s theme is “Beyond Privilege: Engaging Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.”

The conference will begin with an opening session at 5 pm followed by a dinner at 7:00 pm on July 15 and conclude by 1:00 pm on July 17.

Welcome to all AP Educators

We will be welcoming 210 Advanced Placement (AP) high school teachers to campus this morning starting at 8:30 am in Sateren. These teachers will be on campus throughout the week. All of their classes will be taking place in Hagfors and OGC. They will be eating lunch in the dining hall all four days as well!

These teachers are coming from 17 states and 3 countries. There will be more than 150 school districts represented throughout the week. 130 teachers are from MN! This is a great opportunity to showcase Augsburg University and raise Augsburg’s profile with teachers who are working with exceptional students. Please help make them feel welcomed while they are on campus.
