Compensation to Participate in a Auggie Skate Test Research Proposal

Dear Augsburg Students, Faculty, and Staff,
You are invited to participate in a research study on Predicting Maximal Oxygen Consumption with a Single Stage Auggie Skate Test. Research subjects are asked to be within 25-55 years old, healthy, active, moderately-fit male or female, and is a competent skater. You will be asked to complete a bruce protocol treadmill test to volitional fatigue and to return 48 hours later to complete a leisurely ice skating assessment. You will be compensated upon completion of each test with a $5 cash for a total of $10.

Congratulations to April’s Auggie Pride Recipients

Congratulations to Anne Lynch, disability specialist in the CLASS program along with Dave St. Aubin, Ricky Anderson, and Eric Graham from facilities for receiving the April Auggie Pride Award. They consistently go above and beyond their regular call of duty to help students and other campus parters succeed. Staff Senate admires their outstanding work and are honored to award them with this month’s Auggie Pride Award.

Welcome New Assistive Technology/Accommodations Specialist

Please join the CLASS/Disability Resources office in welcoming Lauren Dusek dusek@augsburg.edu as our new Assistive Technology/Accommodations Specialist. Lauren will oversee the implementation of accommodated testing, alternative text formats, and other classroom accommodations. She will also oversee our assistive technology accommodations and programs. Most recently, Lauren served as a senior IT operations analyst at the college of st. Catherine. She is also a licensed occupational therapist. We’re excited to have her on our team!

Farewell to Naomi Farabee, Assistant Director of McNair Scholars Program

I am writing to share that Naomi Farabee, McNair Scholars Assistant Director, will be leaving Augsburg on June 7 as she has accepted a position as an Education Specialist, Curriculum & Assessment, Office of the Associate Deputy Director for Tribally Controlled Schools, Bureau of Indian Education. We are really excited for her in the new role of providing expert guidance on improving instruction by designing and modifying curriculum change and making recommendations for needed services.

The impact Naomi has made during her time at Augsburg has been significant as part of her responsibilities included being co-instructor of the McN301: Research in the Disciplines course. She has contributed to improving McNair curriculum and programming.

There will be no send-off for Naomi but please feel free to stop by the McNair office at Hagfors Center 101 or contact her before she leaves to wish her well on her new endeavor. Farabeen@augsburg.edu.
