Free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on Campus Next Week

Augsburg will host a vaccine clinic on Wednesday, March 30, for anyone who would like to receive a first, second, or booster dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. This event is open to all members of the Augsburg community as well as the general public ages 5 and older. The shots are free and no insurance information will be required.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, particularly for children ages 5-11. Pre-register here: go.augsburg.edu/vaccineclinic

A follow-up event will be held on April 20 for those who get their first dose on March 30. Augsburg students who attend either event will be entered to win a $25 VISA gift card.

Did You Travel for Spring Break? Free COVID-19 Testing on Campus Today and Thursday

Students, faculty, and staff: Take advantage of free COVID-19 testing on campus! Testing is particularly encouraged this week for individuals who traveled or spent time with different groups of people than usual over spring break. Tests are provided on a walk-in basis in Gundale Chapel on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Results from the BinaxNOW rapid antigen tests will be ready in approximately 15 minutes and can be displayed via the NAVICA mobile app to show proof of recent testing. You will need to download the NAVICA app in advance in order to receive your test results. ED Talk March 23: Preliminary Results from the FDC Faculty Job Sustainability Survey

Join Dr. Jennifer Bankers-Fulbright (Chair, Faculty Development Committee) as she presents the preliminary findings from the recent FDC Faculty Job Sustainability Survey. The survey was completed by 54 Augsburg teaching faculty at all levels of appointment and across all three divisions.

CTL will offer ED Talks (based on the concept of TED Talks) before each faculty meeting from 3:10-3:30pm over Zoom (link provided below; Augsburg login required). This year’s theme is “The Future of the Professoriate at Augsburg”, and 2021-2022 Ed talks will be framed under this broad theme that speaks to our “new normal” and beyond.

Nominations for the 2022-2023 Distinguished Contribution Award Due by Midnight Monday, March 21

Augsburg annually recognizes faculty individuals or groups that have made exemplary contributions to creating an engaging academic learning environment through awards for teaching, scholarship, and service. All faculty who have been employed at the university for at least three years are eligible for the awards, and anybody at Augsburg University may nominate a candidate. Adjunct faculty are eligible for a Distinguished Contribution in Teaching award specifically to recognize exceptional adjunct faculty.

Nominations will be accepted until midnight on Monday, March 21st (12am March 22nd) and award recipients will be announced at the April Faculty meeting as well as posted to A-mail. New this year: ALL nominees will be made public (pending award committee approval) to recognize the depth of faculty contributions.

Summer Course: Writing for Television – Apply Now

Do you love watching television and have ever wondered how the creators wrote their pilot for that hit TV show you love to watch? Or, are you a writer in a different medium and have always wanted to try your hand at writing for television?

Grow your writing skills this summer with the course PWC 320 “Writing for Television”. This intensive course will be modeled on a professional writer’s room and as such all students will be required to actively participate. Students will be expected to participate in the development and breaking of story while learning to pitch ideas, create outlines, and reading and providing feedback on your colleagues’ work. Each of these steps will be instrumental in aiding you with creating your own pilot!

WRITING FOR TELEVISION: Writing the Television Pilot, PWC 320

DATES: June 4 – July 30

INSTRUCTOR:
Taught by Christina Ham, a highly awarded and prolific writer for both stage and screen, including Sweet Tooth for Netflix, THEM for Amazon, and Westworld for HBO. She was named one of “The Top 20 Most-Produced Playwrights of the 2018-19 Season” by American Theatre magazine.

COST:

Augsburg University Room Usage and Reservation Process

Earlier in the semester, during the Omicron spike, several rooms on campus were reserved for use by students needing to attend classes offered remotely. These rooms were the Augsburg Room, Cedar Room, and Nelson Room in the Christensen Center; Sverdrup 208; and Oren Gateway Center 103. As we have moved out of the heightened protocols surrounding COVID-19, these rooms are no longer reserved for students and will be available for staff and faculty to reserve. If students are looking for a place to study or meet, Lindell Library has study rooms available as well as spaces like the Christensen Center Student Lounge. All student group related reservations for conference/meeting space should be requested through Auggie Life.

Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes. At the top left of your screen there is an orange tab to see the side panel of resources. As you scroll down, you will see the “Augsburg Tools” section and underneath is the link to TutorMe.
