An Opportunity to Volunteer Virtually at Your Own Pace with MNUDL

submitted by froehlic@augsburg.edu

Love to talk? Need service hours? Have a busy schedule? We’ve got you covered!

The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University, serves middle and high school students in the Twin Cities by providing debate programming. We’re seeking volunteers to help make audio recordings of our evidence packets this fall.

Why are we doing this? Recording evidence helps improve the accessibility of our resources for English Language Learners and students learning below grade level, who can understand the evidence faster by listening to the recording while reading along in the packet. Plus, we’ve got students who simply want to multitask while studying the evidence (they could listen to your recording while taking the bus or doing chores at home!)

We’re seeking volunteers to record some pages of evidence from the Novice packet for our fall MSHSL Debate programming. The due date is October 1st and the topic is about AI & Intellectual Property Rights.

You don’t need to be an expert public speaker or have special recording equipment. You just need to speak slowly, clearly, have access to a phone or laptop with a microphone, and follow our instructions.

If you’re interested, I’ll send you a handful of assigned pages, instructions, and the Google Drive where you should put your recording.

If you can’t make the October 1st deadline, that’s fine- we’ll also have middle school debate packets and others to record in the future.

Please fill out this form if you’re interested! https://forms.gle/fT5nT8eHxddJohzj7
