Wednesday: High Holy Days Panel

Join the Interfaith Institute, Office of the President, and Center for Teaching and Learning for a student-led panel on the Jewish High Holy Days. Panelists will discuss the significance of the holidays and how faculty and staff can support students. Faculty, staff and students are all welcome to attend!

Visit the Writing Center Today

The Augsburg Writing Center offers free writing support, both online and in-person. Skilled Augsburg students will work with you one-on-one at whatever stage of writing you are in – the idea-development stage, the drafting stage, and the revision stage – and can show you how to choose an appropriate essay topic, how to develop a thesis statement and paragraphs, how to revise your essay, or assist with any other writing needs you may have. Tutors will be alert listeners and ask questions, and will not judge or evaluate the work in progress. For more information, please visit our website. We look forward to seeing you!

HLC Reaffirmation of Accreditation Assurance Argument Submitted

In preparation for the upcoming reaffirmation of accreditation site visit from the Higher Learning Commission, we recently submitted our written Assurance Argument – a comprehensive document detailing how we meet accreditation standards. The final version of the Argument is posted on the HLC Moodle site (augsburg.edu/hlc). The Moodle site also contains a 2-page summary of the Argument, entitled “Prepare for the HLC site visit”. The site visit is scheduled for October 21-22. Please mark your calendars and watch for additional details about the visit in the coming weeks.

How to Register for BetterMynd (Virtual Counseling)

Augsburg has partnered with BetterMynd, an online therapy platform, to offer students access to free teletherapy sessions from a diverse network of licensed mental health counselors.

It takes less than 5 minutes to sign up. Here’s how to get started:

1) Visit http://www.bettermynd.com and click “Register” in the upper right hand corner. Be sure to use your campus email address. Check your email to verify it.

2) You now have a BetterMynd account! Read the terms and conditions. Then fill out a few brief questions about yourself.

3) Take a brief intake survey. This allows BetterMynd to help match you with the best counselors and resources for your specific needs.

4) You now have access to your student dashboard. View counselors and schedule your first session. This is also where you’ll attend your teletherapy sessions.

Note: BetterMynd is a new option for Auggies. Free in-person or virtual counseling services are still available to all students from the Center for Wellness and Counseling! To get started with a counselor in CWC, email cwc@augsburg.edu.

URGO Academic Year Research Funds

URGO has limited funding for academic-year research grants for undergraduates who wish to gain research experience with an Augsburg faculty member. Students are paid $1,200 for 80 hours of research. Research must be completed by May 10, 2025 and stipend or reimbursement checks will be distributed after submission of a project completion report, approved by the faculty mentor.

Please note that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and funds will be awarded as they are available. Student-faculty research teams are encouraged to submit proposals as soon as possible.

Daily Chapel: Paul Vang

Please join us in Hoversten Chapel today at 11:30 for our next Uncovering Vocation chapel. Paul Vang, Pan-Asian Student Services Program Manager, will share his story. Paul is a first-generation college graduate and is a son to Hmong refugee parents. He graduated from St. Cloud State with a Bachelors of Science in Social Work. Paul is passionate about instilling leadership in young people and impacting systems that bring positive change, this pushed him to obtain his Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Crown College. His professional experience includes nonprofit, public and educational sectors where he served mainly youth and young adults in positions such as Community Social Worker, Program Director, Youth & Family Program Specialist, and District Homeless Liaison. What excites Paul about the Pan-Asian Student Services Program Manager position is the ability to mentor students who reflect his educational and professional journey.
