High Holy Days Panel

Join the Interfaith Institute, Office of the President, and Center for Teaching and Learning for a student-led panel on the Jewish High Holy Days. Panelists will discuss the significance of the holidays and how faculty and staff can support students. Faculty, staff and students are all welcome to attend!

For Mentors:
If you’re a rising junior or senior in a STEM major with experience and a passion for leadership, become a mentor! Help first-year and sophomore students navigate their academic and professional paths.

Commitment: 3-4 hours per month, including one-on-one and group meetings.

Faculty and Staff Headshot Day, TOMORROW and October 4

MarComm’s photographer, Courtney Perry, will be on campus to take headshots for Augsburg faculty and staff Tuesday, September 24 from 12–2pm and Friday, October 4 1:20–3pm in the Hagfors Lobby. Please sign up for 1 time slot and be prepared to have your photo taken during that timeframe (a maximum of 4 people can sign up for the same time). Photos will be shared within a week or two after the events via an A-Mail post.

Orange Shirt Day – September 30

Orange Shirt day recognized on Sept. 30th annually and is a national day of remembrance of those who survived Indian boarding schools and those who did not come home. This year the Augsburg Indigenous Student Association and American Indian Student Services are providing Orange Shirts with “Every child matters” on them for Augsburg students, staff, and faculty. Orange Shirts will be available (at no charge) on Sept. 26th & 27th in the Oyate Commons from 9am-2pm. T-shirts will be available while supplies last so it is first come first served. Any questions can be directed to aiss@augsburg.edu.

Blessing of the Animals

We will offer a blessing of the animals in Hoversten Chapel on October 4 at 10:40 am. You are invited to bring your pet or emotional support or service animal to chapel that day or send a photo of your pet by October 2 to Janice Dames at dames@augsburg.edu to be included in the slideshow. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated. October 4 was originally chosen for the blessing of the animals because it is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment.

Evening Reception: The 50th Anniversary of Music Therapy at Augsburg

Please join us in commemorating the 50th anniversary of Music Therapy at Augsburg University. The event will take place in the Hoversten Chapel, where a pre-reception with drinks and dinner will be served. The evening will feature keynote addresses from two distinguished emeritus professors in music therapy: Dr. Cheryl Dileo of Temple University, USA, and Dr. Denise Grocke, AO, of the University of Melbourne, Australia. Their presentations, titled “Music Therapy: Reflecting on the Past 50 Years and Envisioning the Future,” promise to be enlightening. Additionally, the evening will include live music performances and reflections on the accomplishments of former faculty and alumni. All are cordially invited to attend. It’s open to the Public! Please spread the word and bring anyone interested in music therapy! Register ASAP or by September 26th, Thursday!
