Sunday, September 9, Rosh Hashannah begins at sundown.
Monday, September 10 is the first day of Rosh Hashannah. Some American Jews celebrate for one day, others for two.
Tuesday, September 11 is the second day of Rosh Hashannah for some Jews.
Tuesday, September 18, Yom Kippur begins an hour before sundown. some families eat their meal at 4:00 p.m. in order to make it in time for the biggest prayer of the year in the synagogue.
Yom Kippur ends around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, at which point we eat a big meal and usually collapse for the night. Many Jews dress all in white for this holiday and many stay in synagogue all day.
Sukkot begins at sundown on Sunday, September 23, and the first two days are “Holy Days” where some Jews don’t work, use electricity, engage in commerce. We build a sukkah (booth) and eat most of our meals there for 8 days, even if it rains or snows.
Sukkot ends at sundown on either on Monday, October 1 or Tuesday, October 2 depending on personal observance. Again, a majority of American Jews do not celebrate this holiday or even know what it’s about.

The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University, equips Twin Cities students with all the basics needed to become debaters: curriculum, coaches, tournaments, and supplies. As our high school, middle school, Spanish, and Somali debate programs grow each year, our need for supplies grows, too.
Our goal is to equip 100 more students with debate supplies in the 2018-19 school year.
We’re excited about the response our Back to Debate Supply Drive from August! We’ve EXCEEDED our goal for pens, highlighters, & 3-ring binders, and now all we have left is to fulfill our goal for expanding file folders.
You can support us through Amazon by purchasing expanding file folders from our Wish List here:
And while you’re buying, don’t forget to buy through our Amazon Smile page!

You will still view applicants through Interview Exchange/Hirezon. This process has not changed.
What has changed is the link of how students find on-campus student jobs.

2. Click On-Campus Student Jobs
3. First time users of Handshake will be asked to activate their account (this takes 90 seconds).
4. Select the On-campus box under Jobs tab, click search
5. Apply to jobs!
The Strommen Center would like to encourage staff and faculty when working with students to find employment opportunities, to have the student log into Handshake.
If staff or faculty would like a student account, so you can see what a student sees, please email careers@augsburg.edu and we will create an account for you

Augsburg University Human Resources and the Strommen Career & Internship Services are pleased to announce that starting this fall, students will find all on-campus student positions posted through Handshake. Handshake was implemented July 2017 and is a platform for students to schedule career coaching appointments, register for events and fairs, search for jobs and internships off campus, and now find all on-campus student employment.
Human Resources will still be the main contact for student employment. Departments will continue to create requisitions, hire forms, student paperwork, etc. through Human Resources and Interview Exchange/Hirezon. You will still view applicants through Interview Exchange/Hirezon. This process has not changed.
What has changed is the link of how students find on-campus student jobs.
1. Log into: Inside Augsburg
If staff or faculty would like a student account, so you can see what a student sees, please email careers@augsburg.edu and we will create an account for you.
