Parking Permits Now on Sale

submitted by bierbaub@augsburg.edu

2023–24 parking permits are on sale now. Working with Municipal Parking Services (MPS), Augsburg is moving to a virtual parking permit system with camera enforcement this fall.

Please note that the issue with payroll deduction not being available as a payment option was ongoing as of Tuesday evening. We anticipate that it will be resolved today and will notify campus by email at that time. Thank you for your patience!

***IMPORTANT: ACTION NEEDED***

To purchase a parking permit, you will first need to login to the MPS SentryLink parking website and update your password. All Augsburg user accounts are currently set up in the parking system with temporary passwords. You will not be able to purchase a parking permit without completing this step.

1) Select “Parking Services” on the Inside Augsburg website or visit the MPS SentryLink parking website at augsburg.mpspark.com/users/login

2) On your first login, select the “Forgot your SentryLink password?” option and enter your Augsburg email address. You will receive an automated email with instructions to reset your password.

3) Follow the prompts in the email to reset your password.

4) Login to the MPS SentryLink parking website using your Augsburg e-mail address and your new password.

Host Dinner for International Students

submitted by yena@augsburg.edu

A new semester is just around the corner, and luckily, we are expecting NEW international students to join us this Fall Semester 2023 — representing countries like Ethiopia, Belgium, Italy, Nigeria, Spain, South Korea, Greece and Norway to name a few!

Currently we are expecting to receive between 20 – 26 new international students, both degree seekers and mobility semester students.

As we collaboratively welcome this group, we plan for different experiences including a dinner potentially hosted by you—our faculty and staff members—in your home. These events create a space for our new students to connect directly with members of our community, AND the dinner provides an opportunity for you to learn about the incoming international students and their goals at Augsburg. It’s really a win-win situation!

Here are the details:
Date: Tuesday, August 22, 2023
Time: Pick up at 5 p.m. with a return to campus around 7 p.m. — Pick up at Einstein’s!

Thinking of International Travel? Plan Ahead for Your Passport

submitted by stoddard@augsburg.edu

If you, a loved one, friend, or student you know is considering international travel in the upcoming year, plan ahead for the passport! Processing times are much longer than usual, and summer is a great time to check whether you need to apply or renew. Don’t wait until the fall is here! Follow the link below for US Passport application and renewal information.

CGEE is preparing for another successful year of student mobility. Students have opportunities to fulfill Augsburg Experience and earn credits on international programs, as well as programs within the US. Green Card holders, international students, undocumented students, and other non-US passport holding students, are eligible to study off-campus, too — often, additional travel documentation is necessary and requires advance planning.

Please refer any students curious about Study Abroad/Away to stop by the Center for Global Education& Experience, in Science Hall 110/112, or email abroad@augsburg.edu

Augsburg Policies Regarding Cannabis Use

submitted by farrisr@augsburg.edu

Starting on August 1, Minnesota became the nation’s 23rd state to legalize recreational cannabis use for adults 21 years of age and older. This notice outlines Augsburg University policies regarding marijuana in light of the new state law.

Although cannabis will be legal under Minnesota state law, it is still illegal under federal law in almost all forms. In accordance with the federal Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, Augsburg will continue to:

***Prohibit the use, possession, and distribution of cannabis (medical and recreational) on campus or at any off-campus activity sponsored by or affiliated with the university (e.g., athletic events, conferences, retreats, class trips, internships, remote work, etc.).

***Prohibit all students from being under the influence of cannabis while on campus or while participating in off-campus activities sponsored by or affiliated with the university.

***Prohibit any student under the age of 21 from using, possessing, or distributing cannabis, both on and off campus.

Any individual alleged to have violated these policies will be subject to the university’s Conduct Adjudication Process (for students) or procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook (for employees).

The Center for Wellness and Counseling and the StepUP® program are available as free and confidential resources for students with additional questions or concerns related to substance use. Employees are encouraged to refer to the Employee Assistance Program for support with substance abuse concerns.
