Indoor Mask Mandate in Effect at Augsburg

submitted by alamilla@augsburg.edu

All students, staff, and faculty are required to wear face coverings in indoor campus spaces, except when eating in dining areas or when in one’s own residential unit or individual office with the door closed. This applies to all U.S. Augsburg locations. (International Augsburg locations are following local protocols.) Masks or face coverings are not required outdoors.

Over the weekend of July 31-August 1, the regional case rates in both Hennepin and Ramsey counties moved to a “substantial” transmission rate (between 50 and 99.99 cases per 100,000 population over 7 days, as defined by the CDC). As a result, Augsburg reinstated the indoor face covering requirement, effective Tuesday, August 3.

Now Hiring: AmeriCorps VISTA Role for MN Urban Debate League

submitted by froehlic@augsburg.edu

Interested in growing your skills in the nonprofit field? Are you passionate about empowering diverse youth and closing the academic opportunity gap? Apply to be our new Community Debate Liaison AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow!

The Community Debate Liaison Role

Our VISTA role is designed to build capacity for our fast-growing Spanish Debate League and East African Debate programs. In these programs, education leaders in the Latine and East African communities took the historic debate model and adapted it to suit their community’s needs. These programs have proven popular and successful, and demand is growing quickly. To increase our capacity for meeting these programs’ needs, we must establish more community relationships to increase the qualified judging pool and promote community awareness. The VISTA member will serve as a community liaison, promoting our programs more broadly throughout the Twin Cities area and establishing new relationships within universities, corporate affinity groups, area nonprofits, and more.

Note: Spanish or Somali speaking skills preferred, but not required.

Benefits

AmeriCorps VISTAs receive training, a choice of an education award or end of service stipend, an education award upon successful completion of service, health coverage, relocation allowance, childcare assistance if eligible, living allowance, and a stipend. The Community Debate Liaison will be a member of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits VISTA cohort.

Questions about the role? Email Rebecca Froehlich at froehlic@augsburg.edu. Learn more about the role via CNCS: https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?fromSearch=true&id=104223
