This is a BIG play day for students (200+) in grades 3-6 with disabilities and will take place in the dome from approximately 9:30 am – 2 pm. Please be aware of street parking changes. “No parking” will be enforced from Butler to Riverside on the east side of 23rd Ave from 7am to 2pm.

The vigil will be held from 6-7 PM in the Marshall Room. Join us as we honor the lives we have lost in the past year. This space is prioritizes queer (especially trans-and non-binary students, staff, and faculty) and we ask all cis-gender, heterosexual vigil attendees be extra mindful of the space they are occupying in their allyship. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc (the oldest historically Black collegiate Greek-letter fraternity), is having an Alpha Awareness Seminar at the University of Minnesota on Saturday, November 19th from 1:00-3:00 PM.

An Alpha Awareness Seminar is an informational meeting for men who may be interested in learning about and/or working to join Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. In Minnesota, there are two chapters for which interested men may seek information and membership. Mu, the collegiate chapter, is open to full-time students at Augsburg, Hamline University, and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Gamma Xi Lambda, the alumni chapter, is open to any man who has already obtained a bachelor’s degree. Those attending should be dressed in business attire, and attend ready to learn and communicate with the brothers.

The Augsburg Pre-Physician Assistant Club (APPAC) is having their next meeting TODAY at 1035am in HC106. We will talk about how you can determine which category your Pre-PA experiences fall under: direct Patient Care Experience (PCE) or Healthcare Experience (HCE). Plus, share and learn about what other members have done to earn their PCE and HCE hours.

We also have our next Virtual Shadowing Movie Night on Thursday 11/17, 615-815pm in HC150. Join us for pizza and snacks as we learn about the role of a PA-C in Emergency Medicine.

The APPAC is open to the entire student body regardless of whether you have decided on becoming a PA. Please RSVP on Auggie Life, and we hope to see you there!

All Recovery Meeting On Campus: Oren Gateway Center 103 Mondays 7pm, All Welcome

We’re excited to announce a new on campus meeting for anyone in recovery (of any form), curious about recovery, or have loved ones who struggle with any form of addiction. It is hosted by StepUp students, but is in no way limited to only StepUp students or people with specifically substance abuse issues. This isn’t tied to AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or NA (Narcotics Anonymous), it’s our own format and is completely fluid. We’re open to suggestions of any ways to better the meeting. Our focus is on providing a place to constructively process issues and work on spiritual development, whatever that may look like. It will be every Monday 7-8 in OGC 103, if you have any questions feel free to email me at bassetta@augsburg.edu or stop in to the StepUp office, OGC 204. Please join us, we’d love to have you!

The Thor Heyerdahl Institute (of Norway) is continuing last year’s success and invites you to attend this year’s virtual event on NOV 10, 2022. The event aims to honor the cultural legacy of Thor Heyerdahl and continue to develop his research and ideas, highlighting his involvement in international dialogue, his advocacy for clean oceans and support towards world peace.

November 8 was selected as the date for the annual National First-Generation College Celebration to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The Higher Education Act (“HEA”) emerged from President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. This year, TRIO/Student Support Services, TRIO/McNair Scholars Program and MLife at Augsburg will be celebrating national first-generation day through various events on campus.
