Christensen Center 3rd Floor Fire – Update

submitted by garvey@augsburg.edu

The Minneapolis Fire Department issued a report that the fire in Christensen Center on January 28 was an “accidental fire” that started in a clothes dryer and affected an area of 20 x 20 in the kitchen.

To support the repair and subsequent cleaning required, Christensen Center third floor will be closed for repairs through Monday, February 27. The main and lower levels of Christensen Center will remain open during this time.

Environmental Assurance and other companies will monitor air quality on the third floor and elsewhere in the building; no hazardous air quality conditions will result from this recovery work. The recovery work will require heavy use of the elevators in Christensen Center, but any materials transported will not affect air quality.
