Donate Paper or Plastic Bags to Campus Kitchen

submitted by greena@augsburg.edu

Instead of recycling those paper or plastic bags taking up space in your house, bring them to Campus Kitchen! Every Saturday from now until November, we’ll be gleaning produce from the Mill City Farmer’s Market, packing it up into sample bags, and distributing it to elders in Cedar-Riverside. If you have *clean* paper or plastic grocery bags, please drop them off at the Campus Kitchen closet next to the elevator on the top floor of Christensen (near kitchen back entrance). We use 30-40 bags per week, so keep them coming!

(If you really want to recycle those plastic bags, though, you can take them back to a grocery store or Target)

Finnish Designed Mid-Century Stack Stools for Sale

submitted by weisss@augsburg.edu

Hey, you mid-century Scandinavian design-loving fool, check it out: I’m selling a set of four stack stools designed by the famous Alvar Aalto. You know, that Finnish dude who was an architect and designer who pioneered bentwood design ahead of the times and that Ikea tries poorly to mimic. The stools sport Aalto’s patented 6-kerf design.

These stools were imported by Scandicrafts of Dobbs Ferry, New York. Likely from the 1940s or so, they show wear appropriate to their age. All the veneer is in place. I’m asking $2,100 for the set. Learn more at the link below.

Student Hosts

submitted by mangana@augsburg.edu

The Nobel Peace Prize Forum is seeking students who can act as hosts for visiting students in the Fall of 2017. Students are asked to step forward as hosts to other college and university students who will be visiting the Twin Cities for the Forum from the 14th-16th of September.
If you know you are living on campus next Fall, then you would make a perfect host! Anderson, Luther, and Mortensen would make great spaces for visiting students to stay, but any on campus living area would be fantastic. We are looking for students who would be willing to help out and provide space for 2-3 nights.

As a host you will have the opportunity to get to know a student outside of Augsburg. It is a great experience that allows you to meet some new faces and contribute to the college’s rich academic community. By being a host you can get to know a student from another college or university and get to know more about other colleges and how they run. You will be the student’s best introduction to the city! If you want to gain a new connection and meet students from other colleges/universities, then this is perfect for you!

If you would like to be a student host, or have any questions about hosting please email or call!

Groovy Electric Cargo Bike for Sale

submitted by weisss@augsburg.edu

I’m selling my nearly new RadWagon Electric Cargo Bike. I bought the bike in February and have only logged 40 miles on it.

This awesome orange cargo bike can:
— Go up to 40 miles on a charge.
— Haul as much as350 pounds of stuff.
— Decrease the heck out of your carbon footprint!
— Make neighbors and friends a bit envious of how leading-edge enviro-friendly you are.
— Leave you begging for reasons to leave your car in the garage.
— Replace your car! Yes. Replace. http://www.mensjournal.com/gear/articles/the-e-bike-that-might-replace-your-car-w484120

My brother, who lives in Alaska, has been riding a RadWagon for 14 months in all kinds of weather and with his son on the back! He uses his bike to haul broken trailer axles to the shop for repair, tote his skiing gear to mountain bases, and more. I’ve used mine to hook up a dog trailer to take one of my mutts to the dog park, get groceries, and go visit friends. This bike is ready to work for you!

I’m asking $1,500 (firm). New, the bike is $1,600 and requires assembly. I’ve done the assembly and all the fine tuning so everything is working like a charm.

I’m only selling the RadWagon because my original electric bike, which was stolen on New Year’s Day, resurfaced and I want to go back to riding that! Selling this bike will allow me to finance the repairs.

Meet the rad RadWagon and fall in love

This awesome orange bike can go up to 40 miles on a charge, can haul up to 350 pounds of stuff, has an integrated bell, and the headlight and taillights run off the battery. The bike also has wood running boards and a seat — convenient for hauling a friend or kid around town. And, to make sure you and any passengers stay mud-free, the bike has fenders and back wheel covers to prevent splatter. A double kickstand means loading/unloading are easy and that your bike is unlikely to dump over!

If you are wondering if RadWagons are durable, the simple answer is “yes.” My brother has been riding a RadWagon for about 14 months in Alaska and in all kinds of weather and with his son on the back! Extra Commencement Tickets

submitted by walkerdd@augsburg.edu

Hi Auggies and Community,

I am walking in the commencement ceremony this spring and I am in a bit of a tough situation. I invited 8 relatives (some from out of town who have purchased airplane tickets) who want to attend the commencement ceremony to support and celebrate my accomplishments. I need four more commencement tickets to accommodate my family members so they can come to the ceremony. In the past there has typically been extra tickets available for students in this situation but there seems to be a large amount of students who are participating in the ceremony this year so there has not been any extra tickets available as of yet or possibly not at all. I invited more relatives than I had tickets with the understanding that there would be more tickets available as it had been stated in multiple emails and even on the commencement site. Anyways, my ask is that if someone has one or more extra tickets, that they share them with me so that my family can be a part of one of the biggest moments of my life. If you have extras or know someone that does, please email me at walkerdd@augsburg.edu.

Thank you,

Diamonique Walker
