Augsburg Center for Global Education and Experience in Mexico offers Auggies the opportunity to spend a semester or summer in Mexico with a focus on experiential-style learning, social justice, and community connections. Classes are small and personalized, and programs in Mexico are among the most affordable of all our programs abroad. Check out the options:

Bookstore charge accounts will open the day after you’ve registered for spring term. The last day to charge online orders is Sunday, January 16th, 2022. The last day to charge in-store purchases is Wednesday, January 19th, 2022. Due to the financial aid cycle, you can only charge expenses to your bookstore account during this specific period. Happy Cyber Monday! Augsburg has switched to Google’s newest platform for Instant Messaging – Google Chat. This keeps Augsburg in line with Google’s roadmap and provides better integration between instant messaging and other Google products. The most noticeable changes are a slightly different interface on your Google mail screen and the discontinuation of the Google “Hangouts” mobile application. Learn about our approach to the spring musical; have fun with improvisational games and musical rhythms; and get to know others who are interested in the spring musical. As we explore the world of Into the Woods, we’ll also explore your vision and how it may fit into the approach we are taking to magic and transformation!

Between the COVID-19 pandemic, political turmoil, and growing racial injustice in our country, the past year and a half have been full of unique challenges. We invite you to participate in a study examining student experiences and mental health during the pandemic and following the murder of George Floyd.

To better understand student experiences and mental health during this time, sociology professor James Vela-McConnell is conducting a study of current, degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students. This study involves a 20-to-30-minute, mostly multiple-choice online questionnaire which can be completed at your convenience. Participation in the questionnaire will be completely confidential, and automatically enter you into a raffle for one of three $100 gift cards, one of six $50 gift cards, or one of eight $25 gift cards from Target. A report based on this study may also be shared with the Center for Wellness and Counseling at Augsburg to allow them to better serve the mental health needs of students.

Please note that the study will close on November 24.

John Rohde Schwehn (he/him) comes to Augsburg after five years of parish ministry with Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, MN. A graduate of St. Olaf College and Yale Divinity School, he has also served congregations in St. Louis Park and Northfield, MN. He is passionate about forming community through practices of hospitality, worship, and justice. In addition to pastoral ministry, he has also been a contributing author to Augsburg Fortress’s suite of resources on scripture, theology, and Lutheran identity based on the works of Pr. Dan Erlander (Manna and Mercy; Baptized, We Live; A Place for You; Water Washed, Spirit Born). Between the COVID-19 pandemic, political turmoil, and growing racial injustice in our country, the past year and a half have been full of unique challenges. We invite you to participate in a study examining student experiences and mental health during the pandemic and following the murder of George Floyd.

To better understand student experiences and mental health during this time, sociology professor James Vela-McConnell is conducting a study of current, degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students. This study involves a 20-to-30-minute, mostly multiple-choice online questionnaire which can be completed at your convenience. Participation in the questionnaire will be completely confidential, and automatically enter you into a raffle for one of three $100 gift cards, one of six $50 gift cards, or one of eight $25 gift cards from Target. A report based on this study may also be shared with the Center for Wellness and Counseling at Augsburg to allow them to better serve the mental health needs of students.

Congratulations to Kelsey Richardson Blackwell who has accepted a new position at Augsburg, as Senior Director of Advising and Registration. Have you secured a Spring Internship? If yes, consider registering your experience!
Last day to add a course for Spring is January 18th.

Internship registration is a two-step process. Fill out the Internship Site Agreement Form and the Internship Registration Form on the Strommen Center website to get credit/the Augsburg Experience graduation requirement.

Students earning credit in their major need to meet with their faculty adviser first to get approval and learn what academic work will be required. Submission of this work to the faculty supervisor is necessary before receiving credit.

Students should register their internship before starting their hours – this includes zero credit Augsburg Experience internships. Please contact strommen.internships@augsburg.edu with internship-related questions.

Nutrition Services staff directly influences the patient, guest, and the staff experience by preparing and serving the food that sustains everyone through their healing or their work. Students – don’t forget about TutorMe! It is available to Augsburg students 24/7 and offers tutoring in over 300 subjects from qualified tutors. Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes.
