MNUDL: Seeking Fluent Spanish Speakers for Paid Opportunity

submitted by froehlic@augsburg.edu

The Minnesota Urban Debate League is seeking authentic voices for a new volunteer opportunity!

WHAT WE DO

The MN Urban Debate League (MNUDL) is a program of Augsburg University. We provide academic competitive debate programming to 1,200+ middle and high school students in the Twin Cities. Learn about our work here: https://mnudl.augsburg.edu/

We know that one of the reasons debate helps students improve their literacy is that students are engaging with all four foundational skills of literacy: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

WHAT WE NEED

One of the most powerful tools we have to help rookie debaters learn is auditory supplements to our written packets. With these recordings, students at all skill levels will be able to follow along with the text as they read, learn evidence while doing other tasks like doing chores or riding the bus, and rapidly improve their literacy and information retention.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We are seeking fluent Spanish speakers to record our evidence packets at a conversational pace (120 words per minute) for the Spanish Debate League, which serves middle and high school students. The topic this year is Puerto Rico statehood. We will pay 10 fluent Spanish speakers $25 each, with an assignment of 5 abbreviated pages to read ($5/page rate).

Recordings are preferred by February 3rd, but can be submitted by February 10th.

Our voice volunteers need to be able to speak slowly, clearly, and with energy. No special recording equipment is required, although we do ask that you record in a quiet space with minimal distractions. We can edit your audio for you.

Interested? Please contact Rebecca at froehlic@augsburg.edu to let us know, and/or fill out this form: https://forms.gle/j3KeHjxUjpsuvmic6

Personal Care Assistants Needed

submitted by barrienb@augsburg.edu

Hi! My name is Bella and I am a third year student here at Augsburg studying graphic design. I am currently trying to find personal care assistants to help me in my day to day life here on campus. This would include getting me ready for the day, helping me get set up for class and assisting me around campus. I am currently looking for people who would want to work some hours during this school year! If you are a pre-med or nursing student, this is a great opportunity to get experience with patient care. Plus, you get to be paid to have fun!

I really enjoy getting coffee, watching Netflix, drawing, and painting. I consider all my assistants as my friends and if you work for me, you are guaranteed a good time! If you are interested, please text me at: 612-345-2855 or email me at barrienb@augsburg.edu. Hope you will join! *looking for females and AFAB people only please*
